★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drive to Ipoh for Porridge then swing to KL.....friend recommemd this...Really yummy. Food nice, can see place are clean inside for this type of non air con eat house. No worries is cozy. Worth to come here again. Price for me is not expensive...3 persons order,order so much with drinks..especially e Big Xiong Fish....total Rm$58+ only ???

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little known among the younger generation, to some, this Teow Chew porridge restaurant in the city center of Ipoh will definitely bring back some childhood memory ... the taste of yesteryear, humble yet appetising. Being a Teow Chew porridge, the porridge is typically plain and watery. As a perfect complement, this is served with the down-to-earth homely taste of, mainly, braised dishes such as duck, pork, tofu etc. Fried fish and salted egg are available too. All dishes are a la carte. No frills nor with artificial seasoning. Also served with their unique condiment of spicy and sour sauce.
Public parking lots (display-coupon system) are available but always full.

From afar this restaurant (2 shop lots space) looks like a traditional old Chinese asssociation building. Never mind, just don't miss the groundfloor eatery centre serving authentic, delicious Teochew porridge and its assortment of wonderful dishes. The white plain porridge is cooked to perfection. Right thickness, right starchy feel and smoothness. Try the accompanying dishes: braised duck meat and its entrails, fried or steamed fish, tofu variety, braised egg or omelette, beans, vegetables, etc. Most are cooked until pleasantly soft and easy to digest. I mean, your appetitite will grow as one consume the Teochew style meal, especially dipping food in the special sourish sweet bean paste sauce as flavouring.
The setting of the restaurant is plain simple and traditional kind of look. Not air-cond., but it is airy and comfortable.
