★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The gentrified lanes of Chinatown brings in a new take on the area, a host of new restaurants and bars to venture. Supporting local establishments are important too. Da bao is a resto bar concept with a smal menu, their steam bao texture is chewy and bouncy, fermented well too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Despite the exterior of the shop being a pre-historical building, the interior is with modern renovation , visually attractive with clever use of natural, neon and incandescent lights . The ground floor and top floor, are clearly contrasted . Top floor is naughty ( bar ) and ground floor is nice ( Bao cafe ) . Staff are super friendly, almost like friends . Had the fish mantao & it was a gastronomical delight. .. The flavour combination drew my curiosity . If you prefer enjoying your mantao with more light, do call to reserve a seat on the ground floor . Otherwise, you would be allocated a seat by the bar which is also great just that you can see the food well . Beautiful place , I won’t mind bringing friends over even for an occasion such as a birthday party - keep up the great job guys !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here on the weekend and luckily there was a table for two without needing to wait as we didn’t make any reservations. Please do make a reservation to be safe.
We tried the soft shell crab bao and the pork bao. Both were great. The combination of the flavours were unique in the best ways. The drink was recommended by the friendly waiter as we didn’t know which cocktail to choose. The cocktail was great as I was not into strong cocktail. It was light , fruity and sweet. We’ll probably go back there again to try the other bao .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food: Ordered 4 baos on the menu and I would recommend the Pork belly bao and the fish bao.
The bao is huge, definitely sharing portion. Though I would recommend their pork belly rice bowl too, the flavours gelled well and give off an interesting texture when you take a big bite.
Ambience: well lit and tables are spacious.
Service: great service, staffs are really attentive.
Would recommend if you are a bao lover!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The pork bun melts in your mouth. The soft shell crab one is pretty good too. Aside from the loud music, the ambience is pretty good. There are two floors inside and a seat outdoors. Standard cafe price.

I have tried
- Pork Bao: The sliced braised pork actually quite huge portion and I like the taste!
- Fish Bao: My favourite is the big round fish roes explode in mouth!! Got a little bit spicy flavour which makes it tastes better!
- Unusual cendol: This one the person has taken wrong order which actually we want vodka version...but whatever we still try ????The coconut milk turns into a jello or pudding served with red bean paste, chopped peanuts, Malacca sugar and green jelly on it (I have no idea how to describe the ingredients and the taste but it got a really plain taste than I thought))?
- Signature Charred Broccoli: Look fancy look nice but very ordinary taste
