1867年槟城华社经常发生暴乱，槟榔屿5大姓氏族人之一的陈氏一族，为防御暴乱，其一共同特性是以祠庙为核心，三面围绕着宗亲居家，形成一个较封闭且有防御性的里坊这座两进的祠庙建筑，前称“威惠庙”，后设“颍川堂”，是仿造中国威惠庙的民族风格建造而成；同时，陈氏族人也陆续聚居在宗庙两旁，形成“姓陈坊”的公司聚落，显示中国同姓村民移民海外形成的封闭式聚落特色
1940年杪，日军南侵，随着槟城沦陷，祠堂内甚多重要文物已遗失，堂内也处处破损，因此族人于1949年进行大规模重修工程，并增建牌楼及庭院围墙。至今，陈公司内尚存两件最古老文物，即刻有丁巳年的木刻“威惠庙”匾额及铸有“开漳圣王”和“壬子年”的铜质香炉。

Its common feature is that the temple is centered on the three sides, forming a relatively closed and The defensive Lifang, a two-in-one temple building, formerly known as the “Weihui Temple”, and later the “颍川堂”, was built in the national style of the Chinese Weihui Temple. At the same time, the Chen clan also lived together. On both sides of the Jongmyo Temple, a group of companies with the surname "Chen Fang" was formed, showing the closed settlement features formed by Chinese immigrants from the same surname
In 1940, the Japanese army invaded. With the fall of Penang, many important cultural relics in the temple were lost, and the church was damaged everywhere. Therefore, the tribes carried out extensive re-construction in 1949 and added archways and courtyard walls. Up to now, there are still two of the oldest cultural relics in Chen’s company, which are the plaques of Ding’s woodcut “Weihui Temple” and the bronze incense burner with “King of the Holy King” and “Yizi Year”.

Not a very big place like the Cheah Kongsi, but it contains nice architecture, especially the roof.
