It's a man made forest and size is around 500 hectar. Great place for jogging n hiking. Few places for camping for bigger crowds. Sadly the canopy walk closed for now. They are building a new one and expected to get by next year.

This is a good place to escape for a weekend (the short drive from KL). It's better to come early in the morning. Just take with you a picnic basket (but there're some small cafes also). The main activities are hiking and jungle trekking, camping, picnics, mountain biking. There is a great Canopy walkway. We saw the variety of birds, insects and of course the monkeys.

FRIM - peaceful place for picnic, hiking, biking and trail running. It is a gov facility, and it opens at 830am to public. Well signed area with a map. A great place to run, till 11.30 am, most of thr main 3km loop, which is slightly hilly, is well shaded but you can start at 830am only.

If you want to visit a place devoid of noise and pollution, this is the perfect one. In the google when I searched for some walks it was available but the timing of it is quiet late in the afternoon which I could not opt. There were various forest walks which were earlier available but to revamp the nature it has been stopped. so, I walked back 2 kms to the entrance, rented a bicycle and roamed the entire place. It was one of the best decision which I took. This place is the nature at the best, when you visit here, there is a small waterfall which one could enjoy. You would walk up even further to see the source of the waterfall, but i was quiet happy with the flow of water and this was the place only for me, none around. So I took my ipod started listening to music, had my journal around and started penning down. Even after years, I could bring back those beautiful memories. There is also a place opposite of this where you can have a swim, the water is so shallow there but kids will enjoy to the core, I wanted to go there but I saw a family with three kids enjoying there and did not want to take away their privacy and started back. The best place i visited in Malaysia.

Come here just to enjoy the nature that is rich within its compound. Skip the visitor center or any of the galleries/ museums. The botanical garden is worth a visit too. Both Malay traditional houses are in dire need of up-keeping but the surround area is filled with many interesting plants so it is worth a visit too. Lastly, at the end of the park spend some time to picnic at the waterfall area especially if you come on weekdays you have the sensation that you have the whole area to yourself.

I love FRIM and I wish Malaysia will stop using forest area for capitalism development and just fully utilise any lands that has been cleared instead. I also wish Malaysia would replant and replenish forest area on unuse lands and focus on green/forest tourism & business instead of clearing anymore land for palm oil business or any other unsustainable development
