Interesting but somewhat unloved tomb. Explains the story of Hang Jebat (and some local street names) in a confusing fashion, without really explaining why the former heroic warrior slaughtered 700 courtiers. Worth popping in if you're passing.

Visited in Feb. The Hang Jebat Mausoleum is the tomb of Hang Jebat, the legendary Malaccan and friend of the equally famed Hang Tuah. While loyal to his friend, Hang Jebat is equally well known for rebelling against the sultan and as the story goes, went on a rampage. I can’t speak about the veracity of such stories because I only came to see the mausoleum. The mausoleum is contained within a walled garden at the end of which is Islamic style grave underneath a canopy. The garden and general area are surprisingly well kept. The garden has several display boards describing the story of Hang Jebat in more detail. The mausoleum is okay and is worth a quick look if you’re in the area nto get a little bit of local history.

Sizeable plot of land marking Hang Jebat's remains. Nicely done and well maintained. The tragic story of Hang Jebat's demise at the hands of his "brother" Hang Tuah teaches us that "two wrongs don't make necessarily make a right". Just don't forget to close the gate after you.
