★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went to the JNTO Kuala Lumpur office at 10.45 am today to make some enquiries regarding my upcoming holiday to Japan in late November. This is my 4th visit to JNTO since it opened in the present location and I continue to be amazed by the level service I have experienced. It is so uncharacteristic of Japanese customer service, definitely no "omotenashi"!!
On my current visit, when I buzzed the intercom and stated what I needed, I was told over the intercom to help myself to the materials in the room after it was unlocked. Nobody came out to find out what I needed and I had to knock on the inner office door to seek assistance. When someone appeared, I told her that I want to know if there are any major festivals or events in the Kansai area in late November/early December. She responded that she would check and went back to her office, locking the door behind her. After waiting 20 minutes in the bare room, devoid of chairs or tables for visitors, I got fed up and left the office. In my opinion, it does not take much time to find what I need; even it is so, she should have come out to tell about it.
Considering JNTO is a national service centre, the service is appalling. I suggest you should benchmark yourselves to other national tourism offices such as the Korean Tourism Office in Kuala Lumpur.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid coming here during lunch hour (12 noon - 1 PM). The office will be closed.
A staff will greet you once you entered the premise, and you will be asked to share your travel itinerary in Japan.
In subsequence, brochures with respect with your itinerary and travel interests will be prepared and given to you, free of charge.
Feel free to browse the available brochures on display while you are waiting. Equally useful info.
The staff was pleasant, she will do her best to answer your questions about weather, attire, travel peak season, etc.
Highly recommended to come here if you are planning a trip, the brochures provided are unique, and nothing like the same info you can find on nearly all travel websites.
