★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My favourite Japanese restaurant in penang. It's as good as pre MCO. The salmon sashimi is still as thick and fresh! Reservation is recommended. Yumm~

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was putting a high expectation when we planned to dine in but it's a bit disappointing after the meal. Price were on high side (well they're inside a hotel) so I guess it's fair.
The agedashi tofu was very disappointing as I had better ones in normal cheaper place. The sushi and sashimi were good and fresh (which again I can find fresh sushi or sashimi in other prestigious restaurants too) so not so special. Tempura was good too, I love the sauce. Toriyaki were also a disappointment as I had better ones. Clean environment and lucky for us, we didn't encounter the asst manager lady that many were complaining. ? All in all, they were just average. Sorry, there were just too many good competitors.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've been to better Japanese restaurants hence the 3 stars. Some of the seafood wasn't as fresh as they should be, which affected the taste somewhat. When paying, the cashier let someone jump the queue to pay first, which we felt was rude

Unagi rice set was delicious. Full of flavour and still juicy and soft. 4 stars
Tempura was outstanding. Soft and thin crispy layer outside. Can feel the freshness. WOW. 5 stars
Garlic rice was delicious. Well done. 4 stars
Chawan mushi just so so. Normal Japanese restaurant standard. 2 stars

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The grilled stingray bone was yummy, gyoza was too salty for my liking. Sushi rice were hard for our liking. Cold noodles just blend, we had better when we home cooked Soba noodles. Tempura prawns and all raw fish were fresh. Steam egg just ordinary, pickled onions in the cocktail glass surpringly yummy. Garlic fried rice strong flavor, should eat last. Sesame ice cream sweet and rich.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First of all, Irasshaimase is truly practiced here. Their service is one of the best I have experienced. I needed a phone charger and they went to get one for me. And when they see diners needing something, they'll proactively get it even before you asked. They look out for all the diners in all corners of the restaurant.
Second, food is great too and prices are very good, in fact, I wouldn't mind paying 20% more but don't tell them that. I'd like to go back again soon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The restaurant looks a bit aged as it has been around for more than 20 years. Apart from that, the service and food is of top quality. The Japanese boss often makes her round to make sure her customers are well served. If you want a taste of Japanese at affordable price, this is the place to go.
