Minutes from KBR Airport. Meander through quaint villages. Cross narrow Bridge. There are some abandon and destroyed structures in the vicinity. I was told that there were nine previous memorials that were swallowed or lost to the rough seas. This explains the location of the current structure: approximately one hundred meters inland: away from the beach. A stroll to the beach is a few minutes. On the day we visit there was much debris and rubbish washed ashore: a testament to our dirty lack of appreciation for mother nature. The Japanese landed at 11:45 at night: 7 Dec 1941: about the same time they attacked Pearl Harbour. It must have been rough monsoon seas. I don't expect there was any welcoming party : the British had fortified Singapore and were expecting attack there. I wonder if they or anybody else tried the same thing today: whether we would be prepared or have defences. An interesting place in time: not really remembered by most. Accidentally discovered and visited thanks to Google Maps. Visited 11:45am Sun 5 Dec 2021: two and a half days before ghe Eighty 80 year anniversary of the landing. Lest we forget

Reminders of a grim past December 8, 1941: The Battle of Kuala Pak Amat ! The Japanese military landing on the coast of a small fishing village in Malaysia’s northern Kelantan state on Dec. 8, 1941 that marked the start of the invasion of Southeast Asia in World War II.

a decent place to be in touch with our history. however, the place appears to have turned into a dumpster. it has potential for tourist attraction if managed better.

Historical place. Where it all begins. The WW2 in the pacific starts here. Few hours earlier than pearl harbor. Pity there’s lack of god maintenance and no information.

Should be more highlighted and attractive as one of our historical landmark for our generation to come. Glad that the monument is still standing. Still appreciate the effort.
