Lubuk Teja Waterfall (~2.8km) To go to the trail head, head towards Mentawak River using the concrete road until you see the pontoon on the river. This will be after Juara Turtle Project. There is two trail heads. The one on the right side of the river requires a local guide as the trail is not fully marked until the waterfall, this is partly due to multiple trees have fallen along the trail. If you're fit and up for some jungle trekking do find a local guide to bring you in. You will take slightly longer time and distance on this jungle trekking trail. The second easy trail is after the river crossing, on the left side of the river. Cross the river using the pontoon. From the pontoon it is about ~2.8km uphill trekking to the waterfall. Roughly 30-40mins. Turn right and follow the offroad 4WD path until you reach the Mini-hydro Power Station(TNB). Currently the local municipal is changing the old water pipelines to a new one, expect some construction works and tractors along the trail. You will be trekking on muddy trail and the trail can be slippery if its raining. Follow the tractor offroad path uphill for 30-40mins until you hear the waterfall gushing sound on your right. There is no sign for it, you just have to look for a wide opening trail on your right. Cross under the water pipeline then you will see the river leading to the waterfall. If you miss the trail opening you will reach the Mentawak Dam abt 500m further (10mins). The Lubuk Teja waterfall is small compared to Ansah waterfall. The fall is short but there is plenty of places for you to lie down in between the rocks and enjoy the nature's massage. Watch your steps as the rocks with green algae are very slippery. The pool is not deep or wide enough for you to safely jump in. Do not jump in the murky water as there might be rocks at the bottom which you cant see. Do look out for the butterflies and frogs, however watch out for leeches as well, especially during rainy days. To head back follow the offroad trail you came in downhill and keep the river on your left. If you did not come in with a guide, i highly wouldn't recommend you to follow the jungle trail (Juara Turtle Project entrance). This jungle trail is not well marked and have broken up due to fallen trees along the trail. Selamat bermandi-manda! ;)
