Went to SS2 branch with 5 of my friends. Good: Food was great, we ordered the Mama Mee and Duck noodle. Bad: The pork balls in the Mama Mee is uncooked, we told the waiter about it and they came back saying they have tested it and its actually cooked. And they also mentioned that other customers did not complaint about it. All 6 of us had stomachache and diarrhea the next morning. Definitely not a pleasant experience. Hope they could take the customer complaint/feedback seriously instead of brushing us off. Nonetheless, food is great. Cheers

Thai style fast food restaurant, specialist in Thai instant noodle, mama noodle in creamy tomyum soup. Comes with different side dishes such as prawn, squid, pork meat ball and raw egg. I like their thick tomyum soup but the noodle was a little undercooked. This place is famous for supper so expect to wait in queue the later you go. The downside is the shop too small that it couldn't allocate many customer at once

3 words to describe Mama Mee here; Aroi Mak Mak! The Thai-inspired tom yum noodles will bring nostalgic memories of Bangkok street food that travel-starved millennials like me miss most. The fresh baby octopus is another must-try. Cooked refreshingly succulent with a spicy, zesty punch that elevates a typical late-night supper.

Came with my friend for late dinner. A place full of youngsters and those late diner. Need to queue for our turn to dine in. I waited about 20min and there was a couple that cut our queue. I think the waiter should take note on whose was in the queue first to prevent this to happen. People there do not leave even after finishing their meal. I think owner should set time limit for diner as well. Food wise, The tomyam amazing and must try, while the aglio olio definitely need to be improved. Parking available in front of the shop

Today old man visits yexiao canteen at SS2 branch (their HQ is in Kepong, yes that one) for dinner. In the table is Tomyam seafood (RM13.80) with added spiciness and Fried Thai smoked duck noodle (RM14.80) which has 3 chilli levels. I'm late to the hype but honestly would you want to wait 45mins to an hour for your Tomyam noodles? Nah I didn't think so. The fried smoked duck noodle needed to be a little more dry because it is missing the fried in the wok feeling (wok hei). There was too much wetness meaning it just went from noodle blanching onto the plate. The soft boiled egg adds dimension but only if the noodle was fried, then it would have made a difference. The spice though not numbing hot but came to a point when it became bitter. This usually means the spice is heavy handed but not the seasoning. Balancing is important in this dish. When a friend and me walked to Jeh o Chula in Bangkok, before it became the sensation that it was, there was already a following. This following created quite an impression and I'm guessing mama noodles saw a huge uptake in production. Yexiao Canteen's version is their take on it, and I respect the decision to not be the same. The Tomyam broth for me was a bit too thick. This usually means the ratio of raw egg to Tomyam soup is a little off. So it created like sweet and sour crab type of consistency which is starchy. Everything else for me is good, I mean 3 medium prawns and 3 squid pieces for me, in PJ/KL is quite value. Think about it, 3 prawns and 3 sotong (white not red) for less than RM15. Try at nasi kandar shop and see? My recommendation is to have a version with roast pork just to make variations. With Jeh O, sure the mama noodle is their highlight but their other food is really good. So for yexiao to succeed, there really needs to be other dishes aside from the mama noodles because you gotta remember the original concept from Bangkok is, RM3 pack of noodles with leftover ingredients. *NOTE* This is not a paid post; the written content is based on author's personal opinion and preference. First and probably it will be my last to visit this Mama Mee (Kepong and SS2). Seriously for me nothing special and price is not cheap for an instant noodle. Expecting something special like Liang Khee Tomyam Restaurant but this Mama Mee really just cook an instant noodle and service with meat and eggs ? Try to avoid seat close to the toilets and inside because it is hot ✅ Thai Green Tea and Thai Milk Tea taste not strong enough and a bit diluted. A bit regret to try this Mama Mee

Some may consider my rating harsh, but i wan to be very honest about it. I like fast food very much, im a thaifood lover, im a noodle lover, im a instant noodle fan, im a mama noodles fan too. I think the food are mediocre, mayb just this branch, personally i think the noodles are over cooked n overly soft, i prefer medium cooked noodles that maintain the tenderness n bouncy noodle type. But sadly, noodles come in wat too soft n squishy. Look... at this price range for instant noodles, im expecting better cook standards.... even if its just instant noodles. The toppings is great. Smoked duck is really smoked, some might consider it too smoked. But i think its just right. Oddly the spaghetti are better cooked than the instant noodles. Milk tea is also mediocre, 1 thing i really dislike, is that they use small ice chips in their milktea and decides to go green and dont provide u a straw, I can understand the go green thingy.... but its extremely difficult to drink with all that chipped ice without a straw. But i felt thers a deliberate intention of making the drinking difficult n they did promote their reusable straws in their menu. Sounds more like a hardselling to me.... Dont get me wrong, i like the concept, price range aint cheap, aint expensive but they keep emphasise on the self service thingy. Dont mind the self service, but then whether the price is justifyable, is down to personal acceptance. I would definitely return or mayb try out other branch. Purely cuz i had always love thai tomyam n nooodles... Definitely a magnet for the younger generation around the area

If you want a good place for instant noodles with creamy soup, this would be the place to go to. Personally for me, it is pricey but the food came fairly fast since the side items have been prepared in advance. Environment wise, it is simple, don't put your expectations too high up.
