?Muthu Banana Leaf (?Halal-Certified) Muthu Banana Leaf is, to me, the epitome of a hidden gem. Located in Lebuh Acheen, Georgetown, I can guarantee that the likelihood of one recognising this place as an eatery is almost nil. It is so inconspicuously placed, and it DOESN’T even have a SIGN-BOARD (more like it doesn’t NEED one). You can only recognise it by its recently painted yellow exterior wall, or cheat like me by using Waze ? Serving South Indian Cuisine for over 80 years, locals throng this eatery for their uniquely spiced dishes. I am having a hard time in putting words into my experience there because of simply how incredible it was. Let me try. Ever tried Mutton Rasem? Or fancy some Chicken Rasem? Here’s where you can get this. Every friend (including Indian friends) I’ve asked about whether they’ve heard of such a version of Rasem will sound perplexed; it would be their first time coming across such a Rasem. And I’ll vouch that the broth is incredibly rich. The rice served is par-boiled. It is most unique to me because it feels healthier and less starchy, but that is compensated by being less tastier. Regardless, the curries that top the rice instantly overwhelm ‘difference’ in the rice quality, that it becomes a memorable plus point. Oh, and that Varuval Chicken is so heavily spiced, it was incredible. I’ve never tasted a spicier and richer version of Varuval chicken before. Kelvin D. Loovi who first brought me here vouches for the culinary delights in Muthu's. My best friend, who studied in India for 5 years, exclaimed that this eatery resembles India in so many aspects - from the spices used to the utensils, and the general vibes of this place. Mind you, they only serve 2 drinks (and that’s because they can). Water and a Salted Yoghurt drink. If you’re here for the full experience, get the yoghurt drink; and eat with your darn hands like everyone else there. ??

Ordered Mutton Peratal, Lemon Chicken and Black Pepper Chicken along with the set Rice, Curry, Papadum and Tofu. The food was delicious, service prompt and genuine value for money. Definitely recommend.

One of the nicest banana leaf in town. A variety of different curries, seafood and meat dishes. Only gripe is the drinks option. You can only choose between mineral water and buttermilk. Somehow the food, friendly waiter and simple set-up made it up for a lunch worthy of 5 stars.

This hidden restaurant served one of the best Indian traditional banana leaf in town. The staff is super friendly and you will have a free flow of rice and veggies. They are famous for their curry crab and mutton curry. Vegetarian Banana leaf set RM 7

The best Indian food in Penang. Came to this place almost everyday for my lunch and avoided all the big nasi kandar joints as the crowd was crazy and the queues were mad. I'm a big fan of nasi kandar in penang but this place put all the nasi kandar joints to shame. Fantastic service from the humble owner and staffs, prices are very reasonable.

The shop is sandwiched between two other shops, it’s easy to miss if it wasn’t for the yellow exterior. Service was excellent. Food came quick, large portions, moderately tasty. Would definitely recommend this to tourists.
