Walkabout around MBK Field 1 (formerly MPK Field 1) along Jalan Mahkota, Kuantan. Beautification project ongoing since Kuantan declared a City status. Nothing beats enjoying the sights and sounds of the town by walking. Great exercise too. But never forget MCO SOPs. Stay safe always everyone.

This is Kuantan’s own Hyde Park. It is interesting to note that this is a famous break fast (buka puasa) gathering and most-awaited daily event during Ramadan every year. Back in the day, the field was initially a favourite place to break fast among students. They chose the field because of its strategic location in the middle of town, with the famous Jalan Mahkota Ramadan Bazaar at the field’s edge. They would normally buy food and drinks at the bazaar before tucking in at the field. Most of them would sit on a piece of newspaper or plastic bag that had been laid on the grass, while waiting for the maghrib call to prayer to break fast. Eventually, more people began to join the students, especially those who lived alone and motorists who wanted to avoid the traffic jam. A few years later, Padang MPK 1 became a must-visit place during Ramadan and was no longer a turf for students only. It became a favourite spot for people from all walks of life, including leaders, non-Muslims and foreign tourists. The majority would buy sumptuous food and drinks from the bazaar, while the rest would pack their meals from home
