I have been to Penang Hill recently with my family and took a train ride up to the hill. The ride was only less 20 minutes but the waiting time was more than two hours. I expected that upon purchased the tickets online, i would not have to queue again and i would be able to board the train as per the time i had booked. I still had to queue to get the physical tickets again and i had to wait a long queue eventhough it was a fast lane. A group of 15 people who came much later than us had jumped queue. A lady staff from Penang Hill had allowed this group to jump queue before us. I am very annoyed that a 'privilege' was given by the staff of Penang Hill to this unethical group. The queue was so long and tiring that we had to wait for hours. Online ticketing did not help at all and it was so inefficient. I would suggest that the management should look into this matter.

Loved the experience. Breathtaking view from the top. The funicular train is great too. Comfy ride to the top. We also took a buggy ride to explore more at the top. The guide who took us is very friendly and informative too.

Crazy crowded during public holidays bit still it's the must-visit place if you're a tourist. Well managed system. Cosy train. Fantastic views.

Didnt manage to get inside. Since it was way too long to get in line. It has 2 lane, fast and normal. Normal will cost you 10 rmb (local) and fast lane will cost you 40 rmb (local- my kad) and 80 rmb (for foreigner)

A must place to visit. If you’re in Penang, I highly recommend this place. You won’t regret it. This place is beautiful. The view is amazing. Like you can see the whole town. We took a train to go up there. But next time I wanna try to hike up. We went there in the morning and wasn’t too crowded. So, I think it’s good so we can more explore this place.

One of the most attractive and popular tourist place at Penang Island. If you come Penang and don't go Penang hill, then you are unlucky. So, my advice don't miss this attractive place.

Penang Hill was the first colonial hill station developed in Peninsular Malaysia. It is located six km away from Georgetown. The hilly and forested area is the state's primary hill resort. Set 821m above Penang’s capital, islanders call it Bukit Bendera and it is generally about five degrees cooler than Georgetown. It is the last patch of tropical rainforest in Penang so the flora and fauna here have been protected since 1960. It does not have the same prominence as Genting Highlands, Fraser’s Hill or Cameron Highlands but it is one of Penang’s best-known tourist attractions due to its fresher climate. The most popular way to the top of the hill is the Penang Hill Railway. Located at the foot of the hill, this Swiss-designed funicular starts out from Air Itam. Built in 1923, it is one of the world’s oldest funicular systems and has a 2,007m-long track that climbs the hill at a crawling 30-minute pace
