The main reason was that tin rice and rubber prices soared and caused a chain reaction. People were eager to buy gold to keep their value. In the 1930s, Nanhua Hospital Street and its vicinity were full of goldsmiths. Therefore, Daiwang was built on Xinjie in the mid-19th century with many gold jewelry shops along the street. During the Second World War in 1941, the price of gold was frustrated due to the war, the gold jewellery industry was severely affected, and gold merchants with unstable foundations went bankrupt. August 23, 1954, is an important historical record in the gold, diamond and jewellery industry. The British suddenly imposed heavy taxes on Penang Islanders who came to Perai, causing the gold industry to stop leaking. As a result, many gold merchants transferred their production lines to Perth and set up gold-making factories, making Perth the second major place for the production of gold jewelry. Penang's gold diamond jewellery industry opened up markets abroad in 1990. Based on superb production technology and profound historical background, Malaysia became the second largest country in the world for gold jewellery production. The first producer was Italy.
