C	Christina Soteriou on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I spent almost a week volunteering at the hostel and had the best time! Fred who is the owner is really great, he knows all there is to know about Georgetown and loves to share tips with everyone. He didn’t ask for much in terms of work from the volunteers, just to mingle and make sure the guests are happy, take guests out to our favorite places and just hang out really. I also made vegan pancakes for everyone over the weekend which I really enjoyed! I’ve left the recipe with the staff so hopefully they will continue to make them! Georgetown is great, you could easily spend a week or two there and not get bored. The area where the hostel is located has a great vibe, just round the corner from love lane which comes alive at night and very close to all of the great places to eat, walking distance from little india and china town which you should definitely explore. It’s also close to some of the great street art and a good place to start the walk to see it all, there is a map in the hostel for this! We went to the national park on an hour and a half treck to monkey beach too, which is a must. Don’t listen to the people at the counter there who will say there was a landslide and you can’t get through. There’s a fallen tree and a broken bridge to cross which is a little dodgy but very doable if you’re able bodied. Monkey beach is lovely but take snacks because there’s not much to eat there. Overall I had a great time and would recommend! If I had time I would have stayed longer :)

It has a great location, as it's not too far from the backpacker area or the main sites, but far enough so that there's not too much noise or craziness right at the hostel. The staff were all very kind and helpful, the beds are clean and comfortable, the WiFi is fast and (largely) reliable, breakfast is served each morning, and there's a nice social atmosphere. I'll be back next time I'm in Penang.

Positives: personel were friendly enough and location was good Negatives: the room was small with only a small window facing the hallway, so you could not even get any daylight. Very poor sound proofing so we heard people walking around all night. The beds were rock hard and the pillows uncomfortable. Shower was above the toilet so it splashed everything in the bathroom, and there was only cold water. No soap for hands (but the was body wash provided in the shower so we used that instead). The washing machine was broken on our third day so the hostel couldn't arrange for laundry. Not their fault, but still an inconvenience. Breakfast was so bad we only ate it the first day: VERY hard boiled eggs, dry noodles and toast with fake butter that tasted horrible. Also jam and saw some peanut butter one of the days. Oh, and white beans in tomato sauce. Would not recommend this place for private rooms for someone looking for a nice stay during a vacation. May be ok for backpackers, didn't see the dorms.

M	Marc Compta on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great stay into this Hostel, probably the best one during our Malaysia trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room had AC and beds were quite comfortable. The place was clean and quiet, with good toilets and showers. Breakfasts were also good. Very recommendable.
S	Savannah Greene on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Seriously such an amazing experience at this hostel. The rooms are very clean, same with the bathrooms. The staff are so nice! They printed things out for my flight and helped with any questions I had. Breakfast is simple but good; great jam. After checking out I stuck around for the day and they were very nice holding my bags, and letting my friend grab a quick shower before leaving. The hostel is also very close to everything, and just a block away from the 'red garden' an amazing place to eat, and 'love lane' a tourist food and bar road. Highly, highly recommended ♥️

I could hear the noise in my room. Kinda annoying if you need a good night sleep. The breakfast is generous. Friendly and helpful staffs. Recommended!

The showers/restrooms were very clean as were the rooms. Good variety of travellers. Friendly and helpful staff, great security. Amazing breakfast with lots of tasty coffee and an incredible patio area in the morning/evening. Stay here!
