β β β β β Great restaurant, the service is quite fast considering the full capacity of customer, Staff was helpful and friendly. Variety of fish and local food to choose. Unsure of the western menj, assuming there is none. Great for family and "ikan bakar" lover. Would love the music to be turn down a bit as it is hard to talk to family.

β β β β β Great place to bring family members here for dinner. Ikan bakar is always great in taste. You can choose from siakap, king crab, uji rashid, squid and so on. There's also a band perfoming various song while we eat. The staff was friendly and the price was affordable also.

β β β β β Nice place to dine in.
the foods are good, despite the kerang bakar is a little too dry.

β β β β β The seafood was good & fresh. I ordered the sotong tepung and it was still crispy. The latok was alright and the sauce it came with was really nice with a kick of spiciness. But the nasi goreng would need improvements. It was too wet for my liking. But overall, good experience ??

β β β β β I was in Shah Alam (Malaysia) recently with some friends and we thought we would have the popular Malay food choice, ikan bakar (BBQ / Grilled Fish) for dinner. So I googled βbest ikan bakar Shah Alamβ and an article mentioned βAna Ikan Bakar Petaiβ as their #1 choice. Sadly, when we arrived at the prescribed locationβ¦ the business has gone bust! ?
So urgent check on Google Maps for ikan bakar βnear meβ.. saw a listing for βIkan Bakar Semporna (Cawangan Shah Alam)β - I believe the main outlet is in Metro Prima Kepong - so headed onto to the great unknown to give this place a try. I wouldnβt say I had no expectations. I actually was expecting to be disappointed. ?
So in we trooped and ordered the following:
Grilled Black Pomfret - Excellent! Well grilled and basted with a tasty sweetish sauce. 2 dips came with the fish. The common dark soy with chili bits that was sweet & mildly spicy as well as a sambal based dip that was βblow your socks offβ spicy. ?
Fried flour coated squid - again, very yummy. Flour coating was akin to that used at Malay goreng pisang stalls. Crunchy and discretely spiced. Squid was fresh. Had a good bite yet not too chewy.
Kangkung Belacan - did not look appetising but again was pretty delicious. Enjoyed this veg too.
Last but certainly not least was their βLatoβ (sea grapes) seaweed salad. My companions demolished 2 plates of this. ?
Overall a delightful dinner experience.
UPDATE:
A second visit to βRestoran Ikan Bakar Sempornaβ in Shah Alam.
1) BBQ Fish and Tiger prawns were excellent. Very fresh and tasted really yummy.
2) Crabs - Tasted great but the mud crabs were wrapped in cling wrap instead of being alive. Should have been a warning but the young man taking the order insisted they were fresh. Well, they were slightly less than optimum. Not too bad though, the tasty butter sauce somewhat camouflaged the lack of freshness.
Really do enjoy the food here.
