Braised fish head is a must try here! :) Pig stomach soup is really yummy too! And the lala is super fresh and plump served in delicious garlic sauce! Not much on the menu and the style of cooking is pretty standard but ingredients are fresh.

[ok la] 1) overall - chinese restaurant with limited seating, selling average choices of food ranging from bak kut teh, fish, vegetables, fish ball from Restoran New Cheow Sang Fish Head 2) Steam egg RM12 - must order, silky soft steam egg, loved by all generations 3) Steam ginger fish - good portion of fresh meat and loved it with aromatic ginger slices 4) Bak kut Teh RM14 - clear soup, good ratio of fat and lean meat given 5) Yau char Kwai - must order to go with bak kut teh 6) Steam lady finger RM15 - lady finger was cooked to perfection, still has a little crunch from the lady finger 7) Preserved vegetable with mushroom RM8 - tasted ok

We used to go for their bak kut teh but yesterday my husband 'ta pau' something different from this place. Have always like their braised fish head with 'tau chu' bean paste and chilli which is appetizing. Goes well with rice. First time having their garlic fry lala and I think it was really flavourful..... worth a try. The deep fried fish is done nicely but it would be much better if the flesh is 'firmer'. The soya sauce mixture given enhanced the taste of the fish together with the fried ginger slices. ?

The food was unique. Their restaurant offers a variety of dishes from the infamous Bak Kut teh to their range of side dishes like fishball, steamed fish and many more. The stall gets busy and will run out of food quickly so come early to get these fabulous dishes.

My affair with Cheow Sang started when I moved to PJ more than 13 years ago. Back in those days, I was new to PJ and was constantly looking for new places to eat - I remember going to the outlet in Aman Suria first but the meal wasn't particularly memorable hence I stopped going. Fast forward few years later, my whisky and wine sifu asked me out for breakfast in Cheow Sang SS2 again and that certainly left an impression on me, and then my brother-in-law raved about this bah kut teh shop in Taman Mayang that serves good braised fish head. ◾Bah kut teh - it was teo chew style hence the soup was light and lack of the herbal taste that some of you might like. ◾Braised fish head - definitely the star of the show! The sauce was lip-smackingly good and covered the fish head entirely making the sucking process such a joy. ◾Lala in garlic sauce - fresh morsels with the garlic sauce tinged with cili padi ◾Pork stomach pepper soup - not a fan of this soup but the other half loved it ◾homemade fish balls - freshly made and bouncy.. ticking all the right boxes ◾steamed lady fingers ◾Claypot pork trotters - another must order dish here. Love the sauce ◾Curry chicken bun - skip this if they ever ask you. I prefer the ones in Lucky PD or those in Kampar town. What started as bah kut teh shop, Cheow Sang now offers a variety of dishes to the diners which to me, is a welcoming additions as I always like varieties. They have few branches - SS2 Chow Yang, Aman Suria and this one in Taman Mayang.. each operated by different siblings.
