★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My parents live in Nilai Impian so I frequent here. They used to have decent naan, flavourful tandoori with spices penetrating to the core of its bones, fish curry gravy which would sometimes be amazing, sometimes just okay, and inconsistent chutney - which I would tolerate because the main components - bread and the chicken were decent enough
Today I noticed that they have a new tandoori cook. Decided to give it a try - Unfortunately, at this rate the restaurant will lose majority of its regular customers. Here are the reasons:
- The curry gravy was so thin and bland, I think the only form of onion in it is in chopped form. Not blended and made as part of its curry base. The curry spices are so raw I am doubtful if it was sauteed... Or not. Even instant Maggi curry gravy would taste better than this to be honest
- The chicken - the only credit I can give is it still retains its juiciness but it was so underseasoned. I am confident it was not marinated long enough (I dare say not overnight). The turmeric, coriander, and garam masala were so faint and the fragrance of yoghurt penetrating its flesh was gone completely
- The chutney - I seriously feel like the cook needs to work on his palate... Or cooking is just not for him
At this rate there is in no way I am going to order similar menu again - not if the tandoori cook is the same
