★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Queues get long during peak hours, but otherwise, food is good. Seafood is fresh, though 1 time we went, we selected a tail of fish, they swopped it with another fish without informing us before cooking. Overall good for a hearty dinner.

But price of seafood could be costly. Like crab cost RM130/kg and fei chau price RM80/kg.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tian Lai serves one of the best seafood (especially crab) in Gelang patah and most JB residents can attest to it. I can never forget the freshness and natural saltiness juice just oozing out from its meat crab! You can tell how fresh their crabs are when the meat just separates from its shell easily and it’s meat is still springy, intact and juicy. On the day of visit we also got the opportunity to try out their mantis prawn that was in stock. We ordered the mantis prawn to be cooked with salted egg style and the crabs with kam heong. Both flavors were impeccably good. Not overly salty and they know how to incorporate their spices well with good balance. However it’s slightly on the high price side but you pay what you get! Quality ingredients with quality cook. I must say kudos to their seafood supplier and chefs which makes the best seafood in Johor! And if you’re ever in JB, make a trip detour to gelang patah and you will never regret driving 30 mins for the best crab in town.

1. Queue to order food.
2. Table will be assigned to you upon ordered
3. Drinks to be order and serve by another staff
4. Pay your bill at the counter, please forgive they might not being the bill to you due to lack of man power or overwhelmed or crowds
Must order:
1. Black pepper crab (at least medium size and above)
2. Curry pork
3. Garlic steam prawn
We been here many time before the pandemic. Glad they make thru it. And still as good as previous! Support local business.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited this famous restaurant before the crowd swamp this place over the weekend.
Lovely sweet and sour crab; great stir fried clams; to-die-for curry pork rib (must order!); and decent stir fried egg bitter gourd.
A great dinner to end my sweaty and busy Tuesday.
We were the only table there at 5pm.
