S	Sharon Chen on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place gives an old charm feel that reminds you of the old days but with modern amenities. The rooms are clean, cozy and spacious, with wooden floors and high ceilings. The staff are helpful and friendly. The only thing that may be a deterent will be the fact that there are no lifts but plenty of stairs. It may not be suitable for people with knee or leg problems and it is not disabled or elderly friendly. I had to climb 2 flights of stairs to go to my room. Furthermore, my room had a loft of which I had to climb yet again another flight of stairs to my bed. Other than that, Sarang Paloh is situated conveniently at the old town of Ipoh where famous eateries are situated. Well-known historical heritage buildings are nearby at a walking distance, together with the famous street art murals. I would stay here again, but would prefer staying at the rooms facing the courtyard. My room was just too noisy as it faced the main road.

There is parking but limited so do ask before driving there. Beds are comfy! Room is lovely! The bathroom even has a wooden bathtub!

Comfortable, clean, with a nice cafe next door -- eat the kaya butter toast with soft boiled eggs for breakfast, or the dumplings or noodle dishes. Within walking distance of Concubine Lane and other old town roads and buildings. For this price, each room should have a safe though.

Don't expect a luxury place, but the large room with garden view had all what we needed: clean bathroom, working WiFi, lots of electrical plugs and space for two. I would recommend the rooms with garden view to avoid traffic noise. In the coffee shop next door you get a 20% discount. If you arrive by car free parking in a garage is available on request.

I’ve booked the room at the back of the hotel (The Great Pit) since reading many reviews saying the rooms facing the main road can be noisy at night. The room was clean and tidy. With its strategic locations of the old Ipoh town, you can have access to many sites (tourist & food) within walking distance. The staff all are very friendly and helpful. They’re always there to assist you if you have any enquiry. Parking is limited and can be challenging if you happen to drive a big car. You may need to contact the owner of another vehicle if you wish to drive out as it’s back-to-back parking. The parking is located just opposite the hotel so you might need to keep to the right lane upon arriving the hotel as it’s a busy road. I think most Heritage hotels may not have lift facility so be prepared to climb up to your room. Try not to bring heavy luggage, or if you have knee/ leg problems or having an elderly tag along then you might want to reconsider your options.

It is located in a strategic area near the concubine lane, book xcess, Ho Yan Hor museum, and numerous number of eating places. All are in a walking distance. Sarang Paloh's customer service was amazing. A highly recommended place to stay in Ipoh.
