Didn't expect the cave to be huge and deep. Water keep dripping from all directions. There are proper pathways to walk around for you to explore. RM 5 PARKING , RM 2 per entry as donation . There is a nice Indian man will explain the journey at the first stop.

The caves are quite magnificent. However, a lot of construction has taken place within to make walking paths, platforms and even what seems to be a restaurant of some sort inside. This takes away from the serenity of the place, I think. A lot of construction debris was litering the insides when I visited. The sleeping Buddha is thoroughly lit up with psychedelic LED coloured lights so it's hard to see whether the ray of sunlight falls on the face or not.

Really neat place. I wish the signage showing how to get all the way to the top was clearer as I missed that entirely.

Visited in March 2016 – It was an unplanned visit to Charas Cave as we were on our way to Sungei Lembing. Situated about 25 km from Kuantan, Pahang, Gua (cave) Charas is a temple cave found in a limestone hill in Charas Hill. Charas Hill is a 400 million year old limestone massif reaching about 355 metres high. A Buddhist and Hindu Temples were built inside one end of the cave. You can still explore the rest of the area too, especially the upper part of the hill.

I didn't expect that this cave actually has a rather big void and rather deep i would say. It requires a good 10 min walk in order to reach the sleeping Buddha. Along the path, you will come across Panching Malai Maha Sivalingeswarar Thiruthalam

Amazing temple and underrated destination. Both Hindu and Buddhist temple, you get to see a sleeping buddha at the back as well. A truly remarkable combination of culture, religion and nature. Not advisable for those scared of heights, but its worth it. Will come again for sure.
