★ ★ ★ ★ ★ so silent in here. i didn't have the chance to come in since i wore shorts and i thought its impolite. i saw this temple from outside, some people pray and not crowded at all. but it's quite hard to do the mandatory photo since in front of the temple is a car park ;D

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Sri Mahamariamman Temple or also known as Arulmigu Sri Mahamariamman Temple) is the oldest Hindu temple standing un Penang. With a history of more than 200 years in Penang, the temple is host to many amazing sculptures of Gods and Goddess on the exterior and fascinating Hindu deities such as Lord Subramaniamx Durga and Ganapathy inside.
The temple is not too big but during festivals like Diwali and Thaipusam, you will fins thousands of worshippers packing into the temple to make their offerings.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely beautiful temple and very very well maintained. The Thaipusam Chariot procession infact starts from this temple only before reaching the Waterfall hill temple. Photography not allowed inside the temple. It was renovated in the year 2016. This is the oldest temple in Penang and is in the midst of most happening place called as LITTLE INDIA ☺️

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sri Mahamariamman Temple is the oldest and largest temple in the Little India District. Will be packed with people, filled with music and lights during festival. Normally road closure is common to accommodate the festival so make sure your vehicle is parked on other street (otherwise you'd be stuck until the end of the event/festival)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I believe the significance of the temple and its holiness. However, there was a guy, looked like a monk who asked us not to step on the granite staircase with shoes on in an unfriendly manner. The entrance to the temple was closed and we were not in the temple. I have been to so many shrines, temples, churches and mosques, i respected all the customs and rituals eventhough I may not agree, believe or like. I shall come and visit Sri Mahamariamam again during pooja time.
