★ ★ ★ ★ ★ St James Church started in 1914, when an Anglican church was established in Sentul for the Tamil Christian community who were attached to the Railway Central Workshops. The Tamil community in Sentul continues to grew particularly with further influx after the First World War, fueled by arrivals from South India and Sri Lanka.
An early structure dates to 1933. This earlier building was expanded upon, with extension on the right and left wings added in the 1960s. Nevertheless over time it became necessary to build a new building, as the congregation kept growing. Eventually the present church building was completed on 4 September, 1988. A new chapel and community hall were also added in 2011
