Tamara Resort

Animal abuse, really AGRESSIVE owner and unfriendly staff. It was an HORRIBLE experience to visit Tamara resort in Juara, Tioman. At first we saw little monkeys tied to a 1 meter rope that they can not climb and go anywhere. It was shocking to see how they suffer in the midday heat in the sun. Then we asked about the owner of this poor animals. After a time the owner arrived. He was shouting and threating us that we should leave. By boyfriend wanted to calm the situation and moved 10 steps back. He didnt wanted a fight with the man. The man was so agressive that the local people needed to hold him back. The locals where sorry for how the man acted. My boyfriend was already out of reach but I was still at the property of tamara resort. I wanted to leave but i was afraid of the man. So i saw a family, i went to them and i felt stronger with them. The father of the family told me he will protect us. The agressive owner came back and screamed (i think in malay) so loud that the children started to cry. During this he had the rope of the monkey in his hand and swing the rope agressive that the monkey was throwing around like a ball and hit the body of the agressive man. He didnt even recognize that during his shouting and moving his arms and hands rapidly the monkey was throwing around. The mother told him to stop. After that he left us and I ran to my boyfriend. I wanted to make sure that he was okay. I think: when a monkey needs help of humans and they have to care about them its ok to put them into humans area but a good location is needed that its fair and good for the animal. You can not chain an animal with a 1 m rope and say that you are an animal lover. To make it short: do not make the mistake and waste your time at Tamara Resort. They are rude and they abuse animals.

with my wife there for 3 days 2 night .. everything is her sister plan for her as she said the boss there is very nice and driver . but in reality for the first day we reach evening there's no electric . whole place is dark and room no aircon no light . didn't have any standby for it . still can say it's always like this . second day we were looking for to go for snorkeling . yet they only brought us to marine park waterfall and beach . in package there's suppose to have 2 snorkeling . but the driver keep saying cause ours is budget . and what's the point we rent those mask when we are just at the beach . it's a totally waste time .. because we were at the beach alone for two hours and then he's back to drive us back for lunch . I'm sure we won't be coming back to Tamara resort anymore . and I recommend others DO NOT BOOK THEIR RESORT.

We came here with intent of enjoying the peace and quiet nature has to offer, sleeping under the backdrop of stars and sound of waves but in reality, it’s possibly the worst decision as all the other accommodations provide what we were looking forexcept this very place. Let me elaborate. They have a karaoke bar which blares up loud horrendous music and singing through the day and into the wee hours of the morning. Imagine waking or sleeping to the sound of waves - you won’t get that here. Despite multiple warnings by residents and even authorities, their thick skulls ( and intense love for karaoke) did not register to heed the complaints coming their way. Honestly if you’re looking to get way into the tranquility of nature, This place is 100 percent not it. To make matters, their hospitality is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I got out of this hell hole after just a day.

I booked 2 rooms for my friends and i facing the beach and it was an amazing stay. The rooms were basic which we don’t mind because we were always out and about. The staffs were very helpful with everything. They even gave us a ride to tekek on a 4x4 with our bikes in the back. Mind you, there were 5 of us. They knew we were going snorkeling and offered us a place in their snorkelling trip. They made sure we felt at home in their resort and greet us every time they see us. All in all, i enjoyed my time there and would love to go back there again.

Please never ever consider to stay here - the owner keeps a monkey as a pet on their hotel premises (on a chain). This monkey is suffering a lot. If you stay there you will support animal abuse…

The room was clean and the room price was reasonable. The hotel does provide transportation from Jetty Kg Tekek to Kg Juara and vice versa with a fee.

Tamara Resort is located at Kampung Juara in Tioman. Only accessible by using 4 x 4 from Kampung Tekek. From Tekek Jetty to here take about 20 - 35 minute accross the island. I'm not staying here but i stayed beside the resort. Tamara Resort is comfy & cozy place with nice beach view. Night in here is very entertaining with music, karaoke & busker. The place also easy to access, there is a lot of small shop & cafe nearby. If you're Scuba or Snorkel lover, Juara Scuba Academy just there you can use their service & enjoy your Scuba or Snorkel. Also you can enjoy nature & waterfall at Teja Waterfall, only 2 - 3 kilometer from here. Really great place for family, group of friends and also if you're solo traveller. Have fun!

Please do not go there! People hold a small monkey in a bird cage - chained! He Can’t climb, can’t walk, doesn’t has food or water in his really cage! And if you read the other reviews, the owner is holding poor monkeys for years. I would not support anybody who treat animals like this..
