★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been living in KL for 8 months for a business trip. except during COVID19 MCO I enjoyed eating all weekends at Jalan Alore but last night I experienced a terrible one . Vietnamese food is my favorite among all asian cousins but this place by far was the worst in quality and service.
What they serve you is much smaller portion compared to the menu photo. The menu tells you +8 skewers and I was served 3-off absolutely chewy beef skewers which I have never tasted any thing ever like that in my life. The Pho was Ok but the fried fish was severely under cooked and chicken wings were not fresh.
But this wasn't the worst!! When I went to pay for table my guest left the restaurant to buy sth from supermarket, then I was told that I have to pay with cash and unfortunately I didn't have enough cash. Waitress told me that I can pay with bank transferring, and I said OK and meanwhile I called my guest to do a cash withdrawal for me as sometimes paying to new payee is difficult from HSBC phone app. I sat at our dinner table to pay but the guy was standing above me in an embarrassing gesture which you do it when you catch a criminal!!!!! I told him please leave me alone, this is my Australian driving license, take it, I'm not running a way, you are insulting me but he didn't move until I raised my voice slightly. Thanks god the transaction was done successfully, that said my guest were also arrived with cash.
I admit that I had to make sure before that I would have enough cash but I never been reminded of that by staff, their action was so embarrassing for me in front of restaurant guests and my friends. The terrible quality of food on top of that ruined my Saturday night. By far and by far this was my worst experience and the only bad experience in KL.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The stir-fried vegetables were tougher than the meat dishes served, and the som tam was poorly prepared. The som tam veggies were sliced only slightly thinner than french fries! The restaurant's extensive menu loses out to poor execution, it would fare better to have way fewer dishes and to prepare them with proper care.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The restaurant, staff and crowd looks like one you'd find in Vietnam which means the food is as authentic as it gets. If you truly want to eat authentic Vietnamese food, this is the place to go - they're really delicious. It's not easy to find this restaurant as it's not along the main street, you have to walk into an alley to find it. The only downside was that there were some smokers in the restaurant and the staff didn't do anything about it until I complained.
