★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A visit to Chulia st. (about 1 km long) covers most of the "delights of Penang"... BUT also, has direct links to Little India as well as historic "Chinatown"!! One can find on Chulia st. many small, comfortable and affordable hotels as well as a great variety of restaurants and coffee shoppes. There are also places which sell or repair almost everything--- from sharpening scissors to replacing batteries in the device which opens and closes car doors... and is a favourite of "locals". It has been around "for ages" and will continue to be. It also directly touches "Little India"... and a few short blocks away is Armenia st. and the wonderful, historic Chinatown, a protected "UNESCO World Heritage site". It is worth visiting during the day as well as at night!
