Some of the designs look dated & prices are still very high compared to outlet stores in the US. Those with big discounts seem like old display items.

Giving this place 4-star instead of 5 eventhough I did like the selection of products and the price of the bags that I asked about were all half off. In the end I bought a RM1900 grained leather bag for RM905 - that is such a steal. Here’s my experience shopping at Coach Design Village: Walked in intending to buy a shoulder bag. This is my first time purchasing at Coach, but I’ve walked in to browse at their other stores a couple of times. A week before, I was just at Coach Gurney Plaza and the sales associate there treated me and my parents in a friendly manner eventhough we were just browsing and didn’t purchase anything, which gave me a good impression of Coach in Penang. Different story here. This Coach outlet at Design Village were unwelcoming even before we stepped in. There was a barrier at the main entry, a no entry sign at the back and no one in the outlet, so we thought the store is closed. I was still very keen on browsing so we just stood in front of the boutique literally “window shopping” and a few minutes later, an unfriendly looking sales associate stepped out and let us in. I agree with a previous review here - the sales associate we encountered seem to only serve those who look rich as initially, she didn’t even greet us and looked quite bothered when I asked her questions. But never mind, I was already there and I did want to buy so I took quite some time looking at the handbags. I was looking for a specific style and I noticed that the sales associate was looking at me quite warily when I tried on a couple of handbags. Granted, I wasn’t wearing my designer handbag today, I was wearing a fast fashion one that I got as a gift from my nephew. Perhaps if I wore a more recognizable handbag I would get treated better, maybe (wore nephew’s handbag at Gurney Plaza - the sales associate were super helpful and friendly). Some luxe sales associates are like that, and to their defense, maybe they’re tired of people walking in and not buying anything, but hey, you’re selling luxury handbags - it’s competitive and people are spoilt for choice. Of course they’re going to take time to make up their minds about purchasing a luxury handbag. Anyway, I only got better treatment after I told the sales associate to ring up a bag. She was visibly more enthusiastic and friendlier after that, so that’s that. I actually did want to get a tote bag from there, but considering how unwilling the sales associate was at the beginning at the experience, I decided to get it another time, maybe at another outlet or boutique if I can find it. Some of my family and friends have had Coach bags for a long time - my sister has a Coach backpack that she bought seven years ago and it’s still in good condition. If I have good experience with the bag I just bought today, I’ll definitely purchase more - but from friendlier sales associates who do love their jobs and DESERVE that commission. Best luxe bag sales associates: Longchamp, particularly at The Gardens Mall in KL. Everytime I visit the sales associates are always very friendly and helpful eventhough you’re just browsing - that’s how sales associates for luxe brands should be because buy luxury products for most people is a long term purchase. Don’t judge a customer by their clothing - you never know. TLDR; go visit Coach Design Village for the great discounts. They don’t show the final price on the tags - you need to ask. If you encounter unfriendly sales associate like I did, you can either walk away or just ignore them.

This store were crowded during the weekend and public holidays. Despite of huge turn-ups, the staff manage to accommodate each customer needs. Queue outside of the store were made to reduce the congestion inside the store. Once entered, customer will be briefed by the sales associate on the discounted items, discount percentages of the day. Then customer were allowed to roam the store, looking for the items they wanted to buy. I managed to purchase a wallet in their signature canvas with a gift set box. Overall, I was satisfied with the service given by the sales associate of this Coach store despite of huge crowd.
