A huge state of the art performance hall in the middle of nowhere. Not easy to come here as it is located at a newly developed project area of Malacca. The performance wasn't that impressive, although the technologies used is very impressive. The huge hall with large seating capacity can actually rotate to face different parts of stages. The script and performance is to depict about Malacca history, but I thought they failed to impressed as they tried to tell too much stories in too little time. Hence, they failed to deliver the message. Certain part of the performance is rather boring. We bought normal seats at C5 section, and the ticket price is too steep RM128 per pax which I think is not worth it. But I must congratulate the effort made to make this performance a reality, but a lot can be done before it looses it's lustre and popularity

Yesterday, a few of us attended the Encore production in Kota Laksamana. Below are my thoughts: 1st, the positives: A technically superior light and sound show. Unsurpassed by any in Malaysia ...at the moment. Environment well planned. Staff well trained and responsive. Parking can be improved & is a hassle if you go even half hour earlier but again, staffs were trained well to disperse traffic accordingly. Chamber is acoustically sound and of superior quality. Seats were well planned and identified but smallish and a little uncomfortable if people left and right to you are of normal adult size. Crowd control and traffic flow despite all the above was able to disperse entry and exit for almost 2000 pax within 25 mins.(both in & out) All in all, a most welcomed tourism related endevor by The Yong Tai Group. Now, for the negatives: As i see it, after this show; I have three malay words for local Malaccan's in the near future : If more of these projects materialise here, we are looking at a future *Antara dua darjat* societal representation.( My personal opinion) 1.Thats because looking at the before and after *young crowd (non localised); their patterns and life styles* were totally above and different from malaccan chinese or even malaccan malaysians norm. ( very flashy and ostentatious) 2. The impact of non local choreographer has made the show totally alien to msian cultural traits- & has totally missed how we potray ourselves. So, in these two ways, the production does not embody malaysians nor their cultures. I personally found the baba nyonya dance choreography reminiscent of shenzen/ macau jazz dance moves rather than the feministic malay based (asli tune swaying and sashays) nyonya style traditions. Also, the potrayal of a single scene for indian woman during 600 years if cross cultural history is damning(!). That too, potraying her as a violent mother that beats her malay son ( albeit out of supposed love) 3. Also, although they tried to create a storyline based on their ( non malaysian) understanding; the fact remains that the choreography and storyline was a china chinese based storyline transplanted into a local storyline. ( i found it more interesting once i ran the story flow & nuances in my head according to a mandarin plotline!)

Disappointing show after making all the way to this secluded theatre. This show is not as engaging as the other impression shows in China. The technology is great but the performance is so boring. Very few audience. Not worth the money. Can give it a miss.

Impressive and awesome. High tech theater and rotating stage. Everything was well choreographed, I like the way the director played with depths and heights within the stage. The only boring scene was the 6 pregnant mothers. Oops.

Impressive new theatre. Rotating Audience seats a novel idea. Smooth and almost unnoticeable motion until one looks up at ceiling. Encore Melaka is entertaining theatrics especially the water scenes.
