The museum provides good information on rice production and processing. It is free and air-conditioned. The surrounding area is quite nice. There is also a cafeteria that serves Malaysian cousin. It is worth a visit if you have time

THE FOOD IS ORDINARY, THE VIEW IS SUPERB (if you get the gazebo) The food taste okay only, nothing is super delicious. Food is expensive. Definitely can get more delicious food for cheaper price outside It is worth it only if you get to experience something new, which is eating at the gazebo, surrounded by paddy. The tables inside are not really β€œfun” to enjoy your food and some tables have no fan, which made it super hot during the day. The gazebos are limited though and not suitable for large group. Also, they don’t allow combining tables, so if you are planning for a big family dinner, call ahead to see if they can accommodate to your liking. Worth to note is that many things in the menu were not available during the day (i went around 4pm) They also offer photography service. 4R is RM10, and they will email you the softcopy as well with every purchase

The laman padi itself is a good place to experience rice growing at various stages of the growth process for city dwellers who may not know how their rice is grown. However the food at the restaurant is something that can be missed if you are not too hungry. The place is no doubt busy but the service is bad, slow and some of the staff are like not interested in serving you. They look tired and uninterested. The food we ordered was very basic and nothing to shout about, the rice was dry, the prawns were cold, sotong goreng was not good, there was no gravy or liquid sauce to go with all the dry stuff in the menu except for the sambhal belachan or green chilli pounded with salt and some other stuff. Overall the menu needs to be improved, quality needs to be improved, service must be improved with proper training provided to staff. Prices are reasonable but what's the use of food is not good. Better to charge a premium but provide good service to make use of the good location and also to promote the Malaysian hospitality. Hopefully things can be improved before international tourists start arriving. Another thing I forgot to mention was that at least they can invest in printing some good quality menus. The ones they have are just printed sheet of paper and laminated.

I am so confused it's still operate or temporary closed, google indicated open but when my last visit (16/12/21) office and museum was closed, check with local, they confirmed that temporary close until further notice. The whole place seems not well maintained, but you still can access to paddy field for photo shooting. Seashell restaurants still on business.

Probably due to Pandemic, the whole place doesn’t seem well managed except probably the Kerisik Restaurant. Didn’t eat here, it’s only open half an hour after our visit around 12noon I think From the parking lot, there is levelled structure at the left, supposedly showcasing different stages of paddy (initially planted, ripening, harvesting etc) but really that area seemed abandoned. The floor was full with lizard poop. To the right, there is short path to the Paddy Museum. Not sure if it’s open or not, because again it looked abandoned ?. Walking via the path, is a small garden, you can sit on a swing (it’s dirty with lizard poop) looking to the greenery paddy field. There is also Kerisik Resturant here where people often has lunch and dinner. Can’t comment on the food but the ambience sure looked nice

My review is only based on my visit early in the morning when there was no people around. The paddy field is just small but looked amazing with the traditional Malay houses. Entrance is free and there is a restaurant inside, I have not tried the food there. A place to visit when you pass by Cenang Street. Instagram: theroytravels
