Nice Smile dental & orthodontic specialist clinic

this is my honest review after several years of treatment under Dr Azwa, the owner & the orthodontist at this clinic. i have crowded teeth and needed braces treatment. pros : 1. shes a certified orthodontist. not a fake braces doctor or general dentist. she specialized in this area (moving teeth). 2. her clinic has in-house xray. some other dental clinic dont have this facility. 3. price wise, i think its not cheap. braces treatment around RM8k-12k. 4. shes kinda conservative, old school type of orthodontist. she tries not to remove your teeth as best as she can. adjust the position first, but if cannot do anything, she will remove some. which to me is good, you dont want to end up wearing fake tooth becoz dentist is too fast to decide to extract your teeth without trying to adjust first. 5. theres another dentist, i think its a general dentist. doing usual dentist work in this clinic. indian doctor. 6. clinic is reasonably clean and no foul smell. cons : 1. i think she never wears braces herself. shes taking her own sweet time for the treatment. (p/s: if you want relatively fast result, this is not the place). nobody likes to wear braces for so many years. she should speed up when possible. dont do one thing at a time when its obvious (even to a layman) you can do two thing at one time, hence getting faster result. 2. she has some ego issue. she should listen to patient suggestion or complaint. what ever you say, she will goreng you until you will not get what you want. its like, shes the boss and nobody is right except her. i do believe she never wears braces herself, thats why she never understand her patient and address that issue. 3. she care less about the esthetic of your teeth. of course, she is not an cosmetic dentist, but simple thing, can be done, to make her patient teeth looks better while on treatment. shes too "berkira" with her patient. its not going to cost so much for filling just to make your smile looks nicer during treatment. 4. many time my appointment got cancelled last minute. sometime i applied for annual leave, just to not arrive late at her clinic, but appointment got cancelled. maybe its a privately owned clinic, so owner can take leave easily. 5. staff are not professional. when they cancel your appointment, never said sorry. patient are not living nearby, we travel sometimes from quite far away, subang jaya traffic is heavy also. abit upset with staff eventhough its not their fault, doctor many times had "emergency". 6. clinic is run down, looks very old. 7. shes keep saying that she use to be a lecturer in malaya univ (if i remember correctly) and one of her patient like her very much until they only seek her for dental issues for many years. ex-lecturer doesnt equal to quality and experience, as she looks young, around early 40s. its not like shes in UM for 20 years, i think shes a lecturer there for a short time only. my verdict as an ex-patient ;- 1. go to her if you have simple orthodontics problem. if its too difficult, she probably can do, but will take a very long time. shes old school, not using latest machine / technique, like how other orthodontist nowadays. its not comfortable to wear braces for many years, trust me. 2. if you have teeth problem with jaw problem, better find other orthodontics at hospital setting or medical centre with operation room / surgery facility. orthodontist is not dental surgeon. you will waste time and money in the long run. she is not surgeon. 3. if you are concern about your smile (esthetic value) and you have crocked teeth, find other orthodontist with cosmetic dentistry (those with multiple qualifications). its a little bit more expensive, but its way better than paying 2 separate dentist, one for orthodontist and later cosmetic dentist (which can cost more in the long run). She only care about teeth function, not cosmetic. 4. if you have time, then go to her. she will take her own time to do treatment. sometimes go for long holiday and delay your appointment. if you want fast result, this may not be the best place to be.

I totally agree with Mohd Azzami, I faced the same situation with Dr Azwa. I had braces for 4 years, which was a very very long time compared to my friends who had braces. She always cancel the appointment last minute and her next available dates is always almost a month later than the original date - which was also the main reason why my braces took 4 years.
