β β β β β Went there around 4pm, there are nothing much to choose as there were just left 4 types of these pastries from my photos. So I just grabbed all, although itβs not what I wanted but give it a try.
The vibe was really great. The choux doesnβt really taste that good, just normal and crust was soft. Cake was creamy and taste abit bland for me. All those pastries I got gave me a bad impression, maybe thatβs the reason those were left

β β β β β really great tasting matcha! the portion for the kiku matcha was just nice (considering the price and quality) as well as the taste which was rich and creamy! also managed to try their desserts and was so pleasantly surprised by the genmaicha crunch cubes, which had a moist matcha brownie coated with a crunchy matcha chocolate outer layer! the staff was also really friendly and hospitable making the visit way more pleasant. will definitely visit again soon!

β β β β β Amazing matcha drinks, you have the option to add sweetness if you are not a fan of pure matcha. Got their signatures and did not disappoint!

β β β β β Let's start with the good:
- there are more options for matcha and hojicha than I've seen in many other places
- the dark roast hojicha I ordered is quite good: smooth and nutty and layered
- the place has a certain aesthetic to it that can be quite appealing
The bad
- at the ordering, we made our order and asked for less sugar. We're told there's no such option, only "with or without" sugar, and it's not because the sugar is mixed in with the matcha but it's just it...
- the place was pretty empty when we arrived. We were told maybe it's full ? and after checking they found a table for 2 for us
- they have some strange system with cards that we have to display if we're dining in--for some reason, being seated at a table they showed us was not enough
- the most egregious of all was that we were told we could sit for only 30mins and when 30mins was up, we were told to go, even though the place was practically empty!
- the place may look pretty but the seats are certainly not comfortable
With so many great options for desserts in bangsar, why would I ever return?

β β β β β This is not the first time I went to Niko Neko. Like I said before, Niko Neko is the only legit place to get your matcha craving satisfied. Everything on the menu was perfect and delicious. One downside to this location is really hard to get parking. You really need to be patient while looking for a parking spot.

I am pretty sure that most of you would see this Niko Neko word at some of the cafes that you go that serve matcha or matcha latte. The cat symbol becomes synonymous with the popularity of artisanal matcha that caught Malaysia by storm.
I'd gone to their concept store-cum-cafe in Bangsar once but the queue was so long that I had to abandon that idea. I attempted the second time again one Sunday morning around 11am++ when the crowd has not started to pour in yet. Still it's hard to take picture without anyone in the background.
The whole outlet is designed to exude Zen-like ambience, with (almost) all of its interiors in white colour. Highlight will be the white ceiling paper decoration in the middle of the cafe.
βΎMokuren Marble Roulade - gotta love the crispy outer crust while the inner fillings had this rice-cracker-ish aroma due to its roasted brown rice. Must order!
βΎRen Matcha - with its origin from Mie, Japan, this matcha is the highest quality in the spectrum. More creamy and unami than other range - at least these were what they claimed. It was very good though.
βΎYuri Matcha latte - entry level artisanal matcha, this matcha was younger and fresher.. and she wanted it in latte form.
βΎCalifornia - their signature matcha mocktails comprised of Yuri Matcha, Yuzu, light spice syrup & sparkling water. It's impressive on how matcha can be made into modern mocktails to appeal to the younger crowds.
They do have another outlet in city centre but parking is a biatch there.

β β β β β Love the great variety of matcha that is available here. I would recommend their matcha mocktails. Its very refreshing.
Genmaicha latte is good too.
The staff is very attentive to explain on the difference of matcha on the menu.
However the 40 minutes dine in time is a little stressful.

β β β β β MiniMalist designed cafe which was renovated around mco period. Best matcha or hojicha latte you can get in Malaysia. They offer different grade of matcha for you to choose from. Ajisai is my favourite, matcha with nuttiness taste, soft of a combo of matcha and hojicha. Usually I pair it with fresh milk and less sugar and with ice of course. Hot matcha latte does not taste as good for me(just my opinion). The proportion is impeccably perfect and other places are somehow just slightly lacking in one way or another. Their matcha desserts are delicious as well, be it matcha croissant(my favourite), choux, burnt cheese cake, tiramisu etc. they collaborate with other bakeries for their desserts so all of them are super good, for example croissant with jaslyn cakes and burnt cheese cake with Tokyo restaurant. How cool is that. The price is surprisingly affordable. Other cafes are selling their matcha latte at even higher price and some matcha is overpowered by the milk.
