★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have to register on Google forms before entering. Hiking open 8.30-2pm. The trail to monkey beach is closed today (3 Nov). We hiked to USM- CEMAS , which was a relatively easy hike but took 1 hour and 20 minutes each way. 60+ y/o can handle it with relatively good fitness level. The path is not very well maintained, some planks are broken and railings are rusty.. otherwise ok. Good signage, won't get lost easily. We saw many iguanas /monitor lizards on the beach and also swimming in the ocean.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great hiking and picnic place in Penang island!
I believe there are many routes to explore but me and my friends went to Pantai Keracut. We started at 8:10AM (door opened at 8AM) and reached the beach area around 9:30AM.
It's a tough hike due to the rain and mud, else it's a manageable one.
Can bring kids.
You can bring some food to picnic if you plan to hike back or you can take a boat back (RM150/10pax/one way).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Going to Penang isn't about its beaches and foods... Jungle trekking is the best also here.. Recommended for those who love trekking and jungle lovers.. There's also lovely beach on the other side of the jungle ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Definitely recommend a visit here. Lots of different hikes to do, although Monkey beach track and canopy walkway still closed (as of Easter, Apr 22). It's very sweaty/misty but much cooler under all the trees. You can get a Grab out to the entrance and then organise a boat to pick you up from one of the beaches, which means you don't have to hike back. The boats were a little bit expensive but definitely worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Took a Grab from Georgetown to the national park main gate - about 40mins and 40MYR ?. We went back via public bus - bus stop depot back to town is about 15mins walk + bus journey 45mins but less than 5MYR (can pay cash on bus - may not get change if driver doesn’t have spare)
Penang island’s only national park is beautiful and quiet.
Took the kerachut beach trek. Mostly shaded by trees all the way through the well-trodden dirt path, will not get lost.. there are some up and downs, so definitely shoes are recommended! Hike was about 1hr 45mins one way. Cross a short bridge over a small lake and the beach is there! There’s a small turtle sanctuary on the beach (about 5mins walk from the bridge) which closes at 5pm.
We took a private boat-taxi for the straight trip back to the main gate. This was pre-booked to arrive at a fixed time at the beach. Booking done at the entrance. Cost = 100MYR/boat: so if your group is bigger then it’ll be cheaper per person. Views on the boat-ride back were beautiful too, boatman kindly pointed out the eagles and their nests, as well as rock formations that looked like animals like ? & ? ?
Overall a great break from the city noises and nice way to spend time between meals!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ooh there are several hike routes in there and though I had only tried the one to pantai kerachut/turtle beach, I think all of them are equally worthwhile. We took around 1hr and 15mins to reach there and even though it was sometime in the noon, the canopy shaded us from getting too sunburnt and helped conserve our energy. Above all, the ticket is free! The boat rides cost (obviously) but the hike is an activity you can choose to do foc. Also, gentle reminder, everything about the trail I had walked through was as close to natural as possible, so please do not litter.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hiking and camping destination with multiple routes, taking between 1 hour to 6 hours (one way). You can also skip the hike and take a boat directly to a beach of your choice. (Est cost: RM100 for a boat, 15-20 minute ride)
There were staff at the entry point where you sign up via Google Form, and you have to indicate where you're going and why. Starting July this year, there will be an entry charge (RM10 for Malaysian adults, RM50 for non-Malaysians).
I highly recommend chartering a boat one way and hiking another way - that way, you'll get to see the best of both worlds.
Good views, good camping sites, nice beaches - I highly recommend it.
If you're driving here, note that the way point here can be a bit off - it led me to a Hokkien cemetery. If you're being led there, don't turn and instead go straight. There's paid parking for RM4 per entry at the Persatuan Nelayan.
Note: You can use the Maps.Me app to track your hike here, but the signage and trail is clear and the app isn't really needed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very beautiful place. You can hike for hours. From the entrance to the farthest beach, it's a 1h30 hike (one way).
They have a boating service ehere you can hire a whole boat to go to any of the 4 beaches. You can rent the boat-way or two-way. Example for one way is you hike for some time and go back to the entrance by boat. Or you can ride the boat to one of the beaches and hike back from there.
The hike is seriously beautiful. You walk by the seaside and then get into the jungle to get to the other side of the park to discover beautiful beaches.
When you walk in the jungle, please be careful not to step on any ant colonies.
And please don't litter.
