โ โ โ โ โ Never expected to find authentic Nyonya food right in the middle of the KL. Need to tamper your expectations though. It is run and managed by a single lady owner so don't expect a franchise/fast food speed of service here. The food portion is small to moderate. But definitely a unique culinary experience.

โ โ โ โ โ If you want to try the Peranakan cuisine, here is your place. Dont forget to try their Cincau Gula Melaka - I mean, itโs heaven on earth. The sweetness is too tempting for another bowl, so behave yourself. Just do it.
The place located just beside the famous VCR, so the place is likely hidden among the crowds. The place may not look that instaworthy, but the food is worth your money.

โ โ โ โ โ First itโs not easy to find through waze , so many Sarang ! Sarang cookery is correct at waze ! Second hard to find parking , cannot park at the street or else kena saman ! Park at the Swiss garden hotel parking .. third food pricing was high ! Then no quality control .. I saw ants ? running out from the food .. I got no appetite to eat anymore ?

โ โ โ โ โ The food here is excellent. Very flavourful, all the more impressive, considering that they make their food from scratch using as much natural ingredients as possible. Take for example, their green cincau made from a herbal plant. Their gula melaka masks the bitterness of the leaf extract they use to make the cincau. However, it retained its herbal quality and isnt too sweet. Their nasi ulam is a must try along with their kapitan chicken. The owners are very friendly too, explaining their food to us. Good for those who are inquisitive about Peranakan cuisine.

โ โ โ โ โ Had a great lunch here that served peranakan menu. The food served was delicious and freshly cook from the kitchen. No wonder it has to be pre-ordered if you dont like to wait. Loved the Nasi Ulam and Masak Lemak Belimbing buluh (if not mistaken), you should give a try for this dishes as well as the unique taste of kerabu boknee (my first time). Will give another round of review if I had a chance to taste its specialty desert.

โ โ โ โ โ The owner, Lilly introduced me to her speciality, Nasi Ulam & Chicken Curry set and explained how she started the business and the heart-warming concept of the place. Very lovely friendly person with a good heart and serves very tasty food. Both the rice and curry were so flavorful. Iโm definitely coming back here again.
Thank you Lilly :)

โ โ โ โ โ Hmm, I really wanted to like this place but my experience didn't live up to my expectations.
The Platter was ... okay. Seemed a tad bit pricey at RM40.
The veggies for the Nasi Ulam seemed a bit sparse compared to some of the other photos posted here, but it tasted fine. Seemed a tad bit pricey for RM50 (this will be a recurring theme).
Ayam Buah Keluak sounded interesting, tasted pretty good too, but for RM50 I was expecting a lot more chicken. There were maybe ... 8 pieces? Maybe buah keluak is expensive?
Belimbing was interesting but not to our liking.
Terung Belanda was ... okay. Much tinier portion than what was pictured on the menu.
Assam Pedas Pari (which was served much later after we finished most of our food) wasn't that great to be honest. Not sure how to describe it but the fish kinda felt "old", the flesh didn't come off the bone cleanly like most stingray dishes. Taste wise not as tangy and flavourful as similar dishes that I've had in the past.
Kuih Ketayap was alright, would've preferred more gula melaka.
Not a fan of the Apok Sayur, pastry wasn't flaky (not sure if it was meant to be flaky?).
Fruit Rojak portion was small for the price, keropok was hard and not crispy, could use a tad bit more sauce too.
Cincau was alright I guess ...
Oh, parking tips: there's a RM10 valet in front of VCR. Either that or park in Swiss-Garden. I parked slightly further in front of Casa Mutiara.

โ โ โ โ โ Everything tasted super delicious and the service was great. The owner explained us each dish very thoroughly. She even told us a little bit of the history behind the restaurant and cuisine. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation! I particularly loved the Mee Udang noodles (if you like peanut sauce, this is for you!)
