β β β β β Great selection of books especially from local (Malaysian) publisher. They also publish their own book.

β β β β β Great selection of books from local authors that you can seldom get from the chain bookstores.

β β β β β Honestly don't bother, I know they're local and all but they really hate customers. They're so rude and I've been there twice. The person scolded me for asking for a discount, em like it's an old book that was going to be thrown away that you are re selling, is it really so hard to say sorry we can't do that. 0 respect for customers.

β β β β β A great find for an independent bookstore - local authors, Malay and Indonesian novels, obscure books fiction and non-fiction. The bargain bin is a gold mine. I also like looking at the antique books at the back of the shop.
I have to drop a star off because the staff wouldn't give you the time of day.

β β β β β Profiteering bookstore at the heartland of Bungsar targeting bourgeois customers and their reading needs
Their reprint of orientalist Malayan history written by colonial British in the 19th century is a feature but the price will filter lower socioeconomic readers inevitably.
Their staffs could have been more helpful, friendly and customer-centred, not sure they are doing that on purpose as socially alooftrademark or lack of in-job training.
Definitely not short of staff, as some are chit-chatting
As I left their premise, spent considerable amount of money and felt being rough-handedly treated.
They are moving to new premises which kept mouth-tight secrecy.
Probably visit only when really needed.
Other options of non-so-mainstream titles are Gerak Budaya, MBRAS, Tintabudi and so on.
Not much stationeries.
Difficult parking and inaccessible public transport.
Tips: Read their reply to customer google review to better decipher their values.

β β β β β An indie bookstore that I recently bumped into! I was shocked with the amount of titles that they have and I love how it is concentrated on Malaysia. I was amazed with the amount of books and there are actually so many local authors out there. Would definitely come by and by more books, very proud to see a Malasyia indie bookstore.

β β β β β I don't frequent Bangsar often so when I passed by and saw the bookrack labels of Malay, Indonesian, and SEA literature for an entire row, I was immediately attracted to enter the shop. It is quite ironic how us Malaysians are never really attuned to seeing Malaysian books at the front and centre of a bookshop; and every English-reading starts from a Western story like Snow White, which is absolutely unrelated to our culture.
Silverfish has a range of very unique, selective, and thoughtfully chosen books that are almost impossible to find elsewhere in KL. I had to hold in my scream when I found a book I have been searching for years, sitting on the top shelf, at an extremely reasonable price. One might argue that the book is not brand new but I personally think used books carry more values and sentiments. After all, it is the writing, not the number of times the papers have been flipped that matters anyway.
And the antique books at the back of the shop, my goodness... they give me chills. Why haven't I found this place much earlier is the question I need to ask myself.
