★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wanted a specific pixie cut hairstyle and walked into this trendy hair studio in my very feminine Duke of Hastings swag. This wasn't my first pixie cut but the stylist managed to convince me to trust his idea instead. I mean, I'm no Jose Eber but imagine the internalized horror I had when he told me, halfway through, that he was "kinda winged it" with my hair. Let just say I wasn't happy with the end result. I wanted a pixie cut, but I end up looking like like a Karen from the 80s. I asked if he could changed it a bit - he refused. I'm no karen, so I paid for their service and left. On my walk back home, I saw this Sun Young Studio along the Belissa Row. I walked in and asked if they could fix my hair. Jaqlyn was cautious, but she saw the desperation in my face so she agreed. Having just had my hair butchered, she didn't have much room to work with. But boy, did she deliver!! I knew the moment she layered my top hair, I was in the right pair of hands. She worked my hair in stages, fix-style-fix some more, making sure I don't end up with a crewcut hair only comic book nerds would appreciate. She even did a bit of hair treatment (on the house) to straighten my front hair. The result? I was elated. My new pixie cut looked so much better than what I had 2 years ago. Never underestimate an experience stylist. It was RM42 well spent. I found a hairstylist that I could trust. Consider me Sun Young's newest regular customer.

I have made some mistakes with my hair before (e.g. bad colour choice etc.) and they have always accommodated me when I came back to fix it. Joqlyn and Yumi are experts at cutting short hair too. Reasonable prices and great service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Every time I’m in Penang, I’ll make sure to visit Sun Young for a wash or a haircut. Yumi is the nicest and sweetest hairstylist ever and always knows what to do with my hair. Just love it here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This shop manage to squeeze in my last minute appointment for hairstyling. I didn't have enough time to enjoy a full hair wash and the stylist was very accommodating, even though it was last minute but I walked out with pretty hair style and I was satisfied with it.
I've chatted with the stylist on my post-partum hair loss issue and she has recommended me with the hair tonic and taught me how to use it. I'm seeing results! after 3 weeks of using regularly my baby hair is growing!
Other than that, the stylist overcharged my visit by accident and she called to inform me (when I didn't even notice), she refunded me as well, so that was nice. I appreciate the honesty.
