Almost everytime crossing into JB, will go for the laksa here. I think its the chili they use. Something inside just makes you drink finish the entire bowl of soup. Fresh ingredients, amazing laksa. Must go!

It is a local coffee shop which offers drinks, beef noodle, duck rice & thai laksa. The food is just average and u wont miss the food there..haha.

An avg bowl of noodles to fill you up as you hit the road up north or just wanting a quick bite for a cheaper price in an old area surrounded by more expensive fare. Everything feels like it could have been better. Having eaten this version, I can attest to the fact that Katong laksa has a much richer and flavourful soup base. Surprisingly, there is no option for thick bee hoon as this is a perennial favourite choice for laksa. The ingredients are sufficient for the price. On this occasion we had the duck meat platter and the beef noodle option as well and the latter especially had great response within ourselves.

Tried a RM8 big bowl of laksa; taste so-so (Foon Yew laksa is better imo). Broth is not that rich, cockles r a bit small

I find this Cathay Laksa gravy/soup to be just "right". Its not thick and similar to northern style Curry Mee gravy. If you missed the taste of Curry Mee, you could give this a try. But be reminded that the servings are different though vs northern Curry Mee. This dish comes with noodles of your choice, taugeh, taukwa, Fish Ball and Cockles only. I remembered that it used to have those fried fritters (my apologies as I cant recall on this recent late breakfast meal, as I was preoccupied... chit chat?) The quality and taste is still being maintained after so many many years and as always the taukwa, fishball and cockles are fresh as always. Some of my friends find this dish too simple, no this and that. If you are also those who prefer lots of adds on, this may not be for you. But if you a looking for a nice "curry" gravy to be enjoyed with taukwa n "prefried" fishball n beehoon-mee noodles like me, then give it a try.

Cathay laksa is around for more than 2 decades. Still the same simple laksa, without too much coconut milk and not thick soup base. Mee hon, noodles or mixed, served with hot laksa soup. Deep fried fish balls, dried bean curd skin, bean curd and fresh cockles if you want. Truly local taste, simple and nice.

Tried another stall located inside Restoran Shang Ji. This stall is pretty well known among Singaporeans. Didn't know they were in the same coffeeshop as the beef noodle that i went to try earlier on. the laksa comes in two portion, RM7 or 8. Addition of cockles is extra RM1. Noodle wise, you can choose from vermicelli, yellow noodle and kway teow. While i was there, noticed many people ordered their food as well. Ordered their smallest portion with additional cockle and the food came in no time. As compared to the Laksa that i am familiar with in Singapore. the laksa's gravy was more dilute. However, flavor wise, i think its not bad. The bowl of laksa comes with ingredients like fried fishball, beancurd and beancurd skins, very different from the ingredient you would typically find in Singapore. Overall, not bad but still preferred Singapore's version.
