The price is more on the pricey side. Pumpkin korokke is decent. The unagi maki was delicious and Gyunikku Ramen was ok to be but lack of Japanese taste. Sake chahan will be great if is a little bit more salt. Service was excellent but food serving was slow where we need to urge for a few of our order. Anyway, we are table of 9 person.

UMI Japanese restaurant is one of the best Japanese buffet restaurant I’ve ever visited. Definitely worth having. There are various of food selection here that you should try, right from appetisers to desserts. At first you’ll be greeted with a friendly staff before you were brought to your table. The table setting itself is v nice. There are hot green tea teapot ready for you on the table. Then the food here is really recommended. All Japanese kind of food are available in one restaurant, worth having rather than ordering a la carte food. The red bean soup with sesame paste filled mochi is so nice and warming. The oysters are really fresh which highly recommended. You’ll definitely have an experience of a lifetime dining here.

Sashimi is all right, chawanmushi is delicious, and black sesame mochi is pretty nice. There are two kind of prawns for prawn-lovers, and oysters too, although I find the oysters not that tasty. Staffs are also friendly. Mussels, sushi, and takoyaki are just meh. Sushi rice is somewhat dry; maybe it isn't fresh. For the original price point I expected better. If you have a buy 1 free 1 voucher, effectively costing RM 60 per person, this is an alright Japanese buffet lunch. But at the original price of RM 120, the quality isn't worth it. The restaurant seem to be understaffed, having to wait 10 minutes for the lemon to be refilled. Obviously, prawns and oysters get cleared up pretty quickly. Atmosphere and vibe is a little messy. There are free parking space (outdoors) within the hotel compound. Will only visit again if I get the same voucher. Otherwise, kampachi@equatorial is a better choice.

Had its buffet lunch on a Sunday. Food choices are limited. Sushis are not fresh. Oysters are limited and not succulent enough. The best food here is its chawanmushi. Three of us had 6 cups of it. There's also flies around and on some food, especially the dessert section. Atmosphere here is good though. it's not worth it at the full price. Will not come back again.

Had a excellent meal at Umi Japanese Restaurant at Lexis Suites Penang recently. Went for their newly launched Shabu Shabu buffet lunch at only RM60 per pax. The buffet comes with unlimited refill of sides and choices of two meat ~ chicken and ribeye beef. Apart from the unlimited refills of shabu items, you will also get one order of grilled salmon, fried oysters, fried saba fish and teriyaki chicken. We wrapped up our satisfying meal with dessert platter of cakes and fruits Service is excellent and you get good quality tasting food at this buffet. Personally I think the buffet is of great value especially if you are a shabu lover. Parking is free and ample at the hotel multi storey car parking facility.
