★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They have definitely improved on their services. The former staff that 'was not too happy to see customers' are no longer there.
Update 25 Mar22. I like the new menu.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The OG of fast food in Malaysia. A&W is the first fast food spot that opened in Malaysia back in 1963. This drive-in restaurant branch opened in 1965. News of the impending closure of this branch and redevelopment of the land has been circulating for the past few years. However it is still standing strong with a steady stream of customers who come to relive fast food nostalgia.
Since the start of the pandemic, they have implemented some new measures on the premises. You can now order online for takeaways and pick-up from the kiosks at the entrance (as pictured). Just input the PIN number provided to open the kiosks. Totally contactless.
Seating arrangements have also been spaced out (as pictured) to keep in tandem with the government's SOP.
You can also order and dine-in from the comfort of your car (it was discontinued, but has now returned) from the selected parking bays.
Their menu seems to have been expanded as well. Apart from root beer, coney dogs and waffles, there's a wide range of new F&B products to cater to a new generation.
The service here tends to be hit or miss, especially when there is a large crowd. I had no complaints whatsoever though during my visits lately.
Here's hoping that A&W PJ rebounds and continues to serve for many more years!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is Petaling Jaya's first A&W, and A&W is one of Malaysia's oldest fast-food franchises. It was also Petaling Jaya's first drive-through restaurant. This A&W location holds a lot of memories for many generations.
When you see this outlet, you get a nostalgic sense. For many elderly people who come over here to order breakfast, it is still a fantastic appeal. Except for small renovations here and there for safety reasons, not much has changed with the building.
This A&W is located on Lorong Sultan, immediately across from the Taman Jaya LRT station. Another iconic edifice, Amcorp Mall, is less than a minute's walk from the outlet, and can be seen on the opposite side of the road. Dataran Petaling Jaya is also within walking distance of the shop.
The main features of this one-of-a-kind outlet are the ample parking and large dining area with numerous seating options. Except on weekends or when there is a large promotion, there will never be a parking issue at there. The eating area is large enough to accommodate several families.
The service is quick, and the staff is friendly. If your Malay/Bahasa Melayu isn't very good, most of the staffs can communicate in English.
What is it about this place that I really enjoy? Of course, there's the delectable Corney Dog and waffle. Not to mention the ice cream and root beer! The A&W Float is the signature drink, but I don't think it tastes the same as it did ten years ago. The prices are reasonable, and I only go when there is a special offer.
This establishment has its own men's and women's restrooms and washing facilities. This outlet also has a party section where you can book events such as birthday parties, but make sure to confirm availability with the front desk before going over for a celebration.
This classic A&W outlet has nothing to complain about. I hope it continues open for another 100 years because of its strategic location, which may result in new development initiatives.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Must at least visit this place once because of the iconic building. Since 1965. I think this place is very important to the people who grew up in PJ. The retro-style outlet was the first drive-through restaurant in PJ. Those who watched local movies during the 70s and 80s, well… many were film here of course.
My favorite: Lovely root beer float. Yummy coney dogs and waffles. Oh yeah~

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always love their root beer float. But their fries really fail big time. Even roadside stall can make better fries. Look at their fries in the pic enclosed

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most iconic and memorable A&W outlet in Malaysia. I remember attending friends' birthday parties here in the 80s when we were kids. Good times!
This was the first ever A&W in the country with a drive-in.
Good food and good service. Please keep it up!
