Stayed there for 4 nights at Beach Villa. Nice decorated room with wooden furnishings and outdoor private bathroom. Housekeeping team is friendly and responsive. We were attended by a very friendly and helpful manager, Brandon. He made us feel welcome from the start. But our only disappointment was with a kitchen staff who mans the omelette station. Never smile to you and he was just unfriendly through out my stay there. Breakfast buffet line needs to be improved. Same thing everyday. Overall experience was good.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING. We paid 3.5K to receive non-existent booking dates. They have expected us to wait at the jetty. We have sent a few emails as well as WA messages to ask for a refund. However, we have yet to receive a reply for almost a month. We have received official confirmation of booking via email on booking dates in which the resort was not operational and the booking confirmation was sent on the date which you all were still closed. We have lost out financially and more importantly on our time too due to this booking confirmation. When enquired further, the resort personnel told us the management has told them to take in booking irresponsibly and then they would cancel the booking later on but we were not informed about the likelihood of cancellation during the booking confirmation. We had to find out about the closure of the resort ourselves. Truly irresponsible!

We recently stayed at both Bubu Resort (the resort) and Bubu Villa (the villa). Service at the resort is good. Bear in mind it is close to the jetty, though it is no fault of theirs. The beach is a public area so there are many visitors going by to and from the many beach cafes conveniently located right by the resort. Ample USB charge points in the rooms at the resort. Food is expensive as supplies have to be replenished from the mainland, a usual feature for many island resorts worldwide. Rooms are decent in size and well laid out (we were on the ground floor) with tea and coffee making facilities within, however, please take some milk or creamer with you as that is not available in the rooms. As for the villa, it is very pretty and the beach is calmer on this side as it is towards the southern end of the Long Beach and as there are only a handful of chalets at that part, you don’t get many visitors milling about. Access to the beach is great and makes the stay very enjoyable. One may even sit in the restaurant and watch your children play in the sand. Yes, that close. While the landscape, lighting and decor make the villa pretty, the F&B service was a letdown. The lack of fluency in languages (English, BM or Mandarin) is a lame excuse because they did not even speak the universal language of the human smile. Waiters seem tired and frustrated but any good hotel would agree that that should be oblivious to the guests. We understand that both the villa and the resort have hired new managers who came from solid hospitality backgrounds who bring with them a wealth of experience. Celina and Brandon, the two managers, were both the saving grace of the place. They listened and understood and were quick to look into our needs and wishes. Moving forward, the proprietors or owners/operators need to give these two managers the support and trust that they will take the Bubu brand to greater prominence if they are given the chance. They are natural leaders and if the staff also give their support, they can turn this place around 180’ for the better. All in all, Bubu is a diamond in the rough. With some polish, it can be another esteemed Malaysian brand. Who wouldn’t want that? NB: can you please put orange traffic cones over the anchors along the beach? We shudder at the thought that somebody might accidentally get impaled or stabbed with an anchor while playing on the beach. These boat anchors are precarious; but are somehow also quite difficult to spot when our eyes are looking out at the gorgeous blue sea and not at the sand while strolling on the shore. Thanks.

Quite possibly probably the best resort on Perhentian Kecil, as expected as it is one of the pricier places to stay. Bubu Villa has the nicest accomodations and offerings, such as a prime spot on Long Beach conveniently located right by dive centres, water taxis, snorkeling operators, and other seafood eateries. They have beach and garden villas where you have your own cute little homes. The bathrooms for the beach villas are on the outside right behind each villa and are well protected from neighbors with high walls. Their main dining area where they serve the breakfast buffet and lunch/dinners is clean, spacious, and airy. It's a great place to sit and enjoy your meal while overlooking the ocean. They also have beach chairs (one of the only resorts with a setup on the beach), so guests are welcomed to relax there. Food is of course pricier than surrounding areas, but you can tell they're using better ingredients and being prepped in .. cleaner areas. Service here is PREMIUM. I knew it the moment they brought us out some refreshing, tasty welcome drinks. Throughout our stay, the staff was super friendly and accomodating. The hotel manager Carl remembered every guests' names which you rarely find even at some 5-star resorts. Why 4 instead of 5 stars: - Furnishings within the villas of the resort is slightly lacking and a bit old-ish. If they invested more in making it look and feel fresher and nicer, like modern bohemian, I think more people would even be willing to share the rooms on their social media pages (kinda important in this day & age) - One of our bathrobes was dirty when we first entered the premises.

Overall experience was great at bubu villa with free happy hour for guests every evening. Bedding is comfortable, clean room and toilet. Love to just lie on the sun beds and do nothing in front of the villas. Guests can also choose to spend time by Bubu resort since they're sister hotels. Only downside is the restaurant's menu is only Italian but one can always walk to other restaurants nearby.

The room is clean, staffs are attentive and friendly, good food, clean beach, good facilities except the toilet light keeps blinking and no one change it through out our 2 nights stay. It was scary though because the toilet is semi-open air concept. ?? Occasionally we also smell gasoline due to our room is quite close -by to the generator.
