Mingle @ High Street Kuala Lumpur was a great base for my three night stay in KL. The staff are friendly and the hostel adjoins a cafe owned by the hostel where a basic breakfast is served daily. There are events planned every day and the common areas are good for meeting other guests. I stayed in a private room with a pool view and the room was spacious and had almost everything you could need! Oh, and you must seek out the secret bar!

Mingle Highstreet Hostel is absolutely one of the best places I have ever stayed during my travels. They are warm at welcoming you as soon as you step foot into the hostel. There is an immediate sense of community as you make your way around the hostel - people cooking together, playing cards together and catching up with their travels from Malaysia or beyond! The rooms are set up incredibly well, with a light and power socket right by the bed and excellent privacy with blinds installed on each bed in the dorm rooms. Fresh cold or hot water is free from a dispenser, nice coffee and tea are also available with a big fridge and freezer to store any food to self-cater. One of the highlights during my stay was swimming in the lovely clean, clear water pool right in the centre of the hostel. What the hostel really excels at is its evening activities, which is also shared with the other Mingle hostels in the area. For example, one evening there was an β€œIndian Dinner in the Sky” event at their sister hostel. It was a fantastic evening overlooking the skyline of Malaysia with free dinner of exquisite, freshly made, local ingredients to make a brilliant curry. You share the space and meet and mingle ;) with the other guests - it is fantastic. From there usually the evening turns into a night out in the city. These types of evenings are put on every single day! Another great example would be when they open their secret bar upstairs and have free cocktails and a casual, relaxed vibe and the ability to play pool. Finally the staff are all wonderful and will definitely look after you. One person in particular - Jeanett is a joy. She will take care of most of the evening activities and especially treat people to insane evenings during the secret pub crawls around KL. Thank you Jeanett for such a memorable experience. Finally in general the hostel is super safe, and around all general local amenities you would need. Don’t forget to go next door and eat at Mingle Cafe! Thank you Mingle Highstreet for such a beautiful and amazing experience. Won’t be forgotten and it goes without saying I will be staying again. 5* 10/10!

It is a well run hostel, clean and inviting. Staff very hospitable and helpful. I love the room I have with own bathroom overlooking pool. The warmth of human spirit that can be lacking in more upmarket hotels is alive and well here.

This hostel is a great spot for any traveller in KL. It’s super close to transit and major downtown attractions, has good security and friendly staff. They did a great job ensuring our check-in was seamless, and our stay comfortable. The room was very clean I enjoyed the continental breakfast. The common area is really chill and having the two iMac computers was really nice. The hostel has been thought in organizing events that get people socializing and fosters a safe and friendly community atmosphere. My only piece of constructive feedback is to make the suite doors that access the poor on the ground level more soundproof.

It was and still is a hostel with it's very own pool. Due to the pandemic, guests have been far and few in between but the cafe and the pool have become a very trendy place to hang out for KL urbanites and there is a long queue of hungry patrons waiting to enter each weekend.

The reviews on here I think are from people forgetting this is a hostel. Especially In KL I haven’t been able to find many hostels I enjoyed staying at. Here they were VERY friendly, they offer a pretty good breakfast (little more to offer than just the standard toast bread), super fun social dinners where you get to meet people from this location and the other 2 they own ( if they opt in), and they plan super fun and cheap excursions. I went on a trip they organized where we visited some waterfalls and a local hot spring. The experience was amazing and it was about the cost of two water bottles at 7/11... the capsules are very basic which is what you ask for with a capsule. Wasn’t fancy or elegant but there was a light and outlet with good air conditioning. The pool is great, I swam each morning to wake up and cool off in the day. People hang out around the pool which is right next to the kitchen. They have a mingle cocktail hour after dinner where you can meet people from the 3 hostels as well. The atmosphere and the social components of this hostel make it worth staying at if you want to connect with other travelers or find a great inexpensive place to sleep. If you are looking for modern elegance, this is NOT the place but for most hostel goers, I don’t think anyone is looking for that. I will stay here next time I come to KL for sure. Staff are very friendly (shoutout Eric) and they lead the excursions. This place is great and I have recommended to any traveler I meet who mentions they will be in KL.

Best hostel I have stayed at. The staff are lovely people who are always there to help you. On our last day there was a huge thunderstorm which nearly flooded the place but everyone came together and helped get the water out - I hope all is back to normal now! The free communal breakfasts, dinners and cocktails are a fantastic idea as they are a great way of meeting new people and trying new food. Shout out to the chefs and also the Timothy cafe next door which we went to pretty much everyday for either lunch or cake.

This is an extremely cool / hip hostel however the pool is in the centre of a cafe so if you want to go for a swim you'll have a huge crowd eating and watching you lol. Additionally the cafe staff are the ones who deal with the hostel - and it's an incredibly busy cafe with long lines everyday both at the till and out front. It took me 30 minutes to check in (which was extremely rushed) just because staff were so busy, and I had a similar experience trying to extend. It needs it's own dedicated front desk imo as the current system doesn't seem to work very well.
