★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A hawker market at night. Went for the signature dish called Roti Babi. Managed to get only one and that is only 7pm. The Cantonese porridge is delicious. The other dishes, well, tell you all the next time I eat there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Coming back to this rich man's market, so clean its barely recognisable after 40 years. Gone is the poultry killing corner to where I tagged along as a child with mum on her Sunday marketing. I observed how to slit the throat of a prized chicken, unfeather the struggling bird in Dr.Who's time machine and clean its guts out for dressing. Life's lessons learnt about free market practices of haggling for price discovery, product differentiation among oligopolistic vendors engaged in price collusion and discounting for loyalty based on relationships. Most importantly, trust can never be taken for granted in this fast moving perishables trade where freshness deteriorates by the seconds and time works in favour of buyers just before the market closes. Opportunity favours the prepared as fortunes are made or lost in a day. Only the lucky rooster lives to crow another morning much to the chagrin of its seller..
Sadly, poor social distancing with rich wives have led to recent closure due to COVID-19. Rain falls on both rich and poor.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A famous wet market in town, all you think it are sell here, vegetable, meat, fish, flower, fruit's, all food, but the price a bit expansive, parking is available, if full you also can park at mall carpark.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friendly sellers...can get everything here. Parking is convenient too!
Some stalls price are rocket high...some still reasonable. So must really know which stall to buy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pulau Tikus directly translated means Rat Island. An unfortunate title for a fresh food market. Wet Market essentially means goods sold are not 'dry goods'. You'll find fresh meats, seafood, fruit & veggies at quality & prices demanded by the locals. Cooking for yourself? This is the place you need to visit.
There's also an array of eateries where you can enjoy any number of fresh cooked street food style meals. The number of these eateries increases substantially in the evening.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Known as the market for rich housewives, prices are sticky and few bargains can be found. The vegetables, fruits and seafood are suitable for the grand household and will be offered in limited quantities. The street vendors offer some variety and the night food street still draws a decent crowd.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this market ~ been coming here since I was a kid. Thought I'd visit this place before flying back to Australia tomorrow. Good to see people in good spirits and businesses moving along as usual. It's a lot less packed than what I remember which is probably a good thing. Love sampling all the food stalls in that area. Hope to come back again soon later this year!
