This shop serves very good kopi and kopi o, the hokkien prawn mee is very delicious. Most Penang hokkien prawn mee seller garnish the noodles with thin slices of lean pork, this stall allows to pick other types of pork cuts. You can pick pork leg, pork belly or pork ribs, with additional charges. The hokkien prawn mee stall open at 6:30am and normally sold out by 10:30am. You can have very good duck rice in the afternoon, but the waiting time can be quite long, recent visit shown the stall is busy from open to close.

Once a hotel lobby coffeeshop is home to energetic octagenarians, serving a classic cuppa of kopi (RM1.60) and another a mean bowl of Hokkien mee (RM5.50) made in the shadows of the bamboo curtains. A very light bisque beneath the red oil with noodles accompanied by pork slices, shrimps, beansprout, a sprig of kangkong (water spinach) and on request, pig intestines, topped off with fried shallots makes a heartening bowl. The taste borders on the bare necessities requisite for this Penang heritage dish. As surely as the sun rises, the show is over by 9:30 am. An eerie calm sets in late morning in this cool coffeeshop, the quiet chatter occassionally broken by the old chef's bellow "Boh liao!" (Its finished!), as he busies himself with his daily ritual, turning away latecomers, much to his self satisfying glee. Come 12 noon, the crowd starts to build up by the kopitiam entrance in anticipation of the limited supply of Jit Sing roast ducks by another octagenarian chef previously trained in HK. As soon as the ducks are hung, the snaking queue shortens as the birds fly off their hooks by the hands of this master chef. Like Hotel California, you may check in anytime but you can never leave hungry.
