A wonderful restaurant set in the rainforest on the Datai estate. Food is Malay and Indian tandoori. Gorgeous lamb and chicken dishes. Beautifully cooked and spicy from local ingredients. Western or Malay style seating options . The service is wonderful, warm and friendly.

Staying at The Andaman Hotel we decided to walk up the beach and treat ourselves after hearing so many recommendations. It was great decision. The stunning jungle views and friendly service set the scene for an epic spice experience. Tasty Malaysian cuisine with a massive wine list and decent prices. Couldn’t fault this place at all. The complimentary buggy ride to / from the beach was a great ride also.

One of the best in Langkawi. Great ambience and delicious food. Authentic Malaysian cuisines. You can pick from their fresh seafood and get it cooked/grilled the way you like it. Great selection of food and wine. Service was great also. Staff were very attentive and courteous. Hard to get to though if you don’t stay at the Datai. Recommend driving in or getting car service.

We had a very good and pleasant time in The Gulai House! The service was exceptional (shout out to Muzirah, one of the best waitress ever), the food was great (Ikan Jenahak Asam Madu was very delicious), the environment was blissful with the sound of frog (we were seated facing the jungle). With 20% discount if you are staying in The Datai, it was absolutely worth the money. Small note: The Rendang was tad too sweet for me although the beef cooked very well. If you're more into spicy Rendang, you can skip this and try the Ikan instead!

While I'm not generally fond of local cuisine, the fusion menu here was a welcome change. We were on the full board package, so we went all out to sample their interesting items, but we did over order. Ooops.

Our dinner at The Gulai House was such a great experience. The satay… the best ever in our lives! We also like deep fried grouper with Malay style sauces. Our service staff, Afiq was very professional and friendly. The environment at the restaurant is beautiful. I usually think Malay food is delicious but really oily, but the food at The Gulai House is not too heavy and no heartburn after the meals. Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to enjoy good quality of local cuisines

This rating is especially for Malaysians. The garlic naan was too dry. Panneer Makkani ( butter paneer) wasn’t soft enough but the gravy was good. Chicken dish is expensive for only 4 pieces. I have spent more than this in other luxury restaurants and received better portion that can feed 2 people and i was satisfied. However, the staff and hospitality given was 10/10 just that the food is not up-to my expectation as a Malaysian i can get more tasty food elsewhere.
