Conveniently located, it is a quiet place at the corner of Cannon Street and Armenian Street. Most of the times I passed by in front, it used to be quiet.the one time I entered, a lady was sorting papers at a desk, permitted me to walk around and take pictures. Next to the temple is a small seating area and a courtyard. Worth a look around at least for half an hour.

Though smaller by comparison to the Khoo Kongsi, the temple of the Yap Kongsi is still a remarkable piece of intricate architecture.

Must be one of the iconic places in Penang. It was small but elegant.

I really quite small temple on this street and only one main room inside, but the street itself is decked with Colonial buildings.

Choo Chay Keong Temple also referred to as Yap Kongsi (free entry) is a small building at intersection of Lebuh Cannon and Lebuh Armenian that serves the Yap Clan. It was built in 1924 and is dedicated to the god of prosperity. Choo Chay Keong features Chinese architecture and design. The exterior is quite elaborate and decorative, particularly the two dragon pillars in front of the temple. The interior is small and has a couple neat things to see included the altar with decorative gilded reliefs. The side room includes a back wall wood carving that is interesting to look over. You can view the Choo Chay Keong Tempel conveniently in just a few minutes making it well worth a quick stop when visiting this area of the World Heritage zone in George Town. Note: There is an associated but smaller temple, Tong Yap Kongsi just across Lebuh Cannon but we're not sure if this one is open to visitations. Just a couple minutes walk down Lebuh Cannon, you can enter the much larger and popular Khoo Kongsi Temple grounds.
