I came here to tapau their famous and best-selling egg tarts. They have two types of egg tart, the original and charcoal egg tart. I ate it on the road back to Penang so it is already cold. Nevertheless the egg tart is still flaky and delicious. I also bought a Kaya puff. You could oven it or microwave it a little if you tapau back home, it will be even tastier! Price is also reasonable.

Came for eggtarts and biscuits after having breakfast elsewhere. Expect a queue coming for their flakey crust egg tarts, also available in charcoal crust. For dining, you have to climb a steep narrow staircase to the upper floor. They serve dimsum but we didn't try any because we already ate elsewhere. Apart from the egg tarts which are very good, we also had the salted egg biscuit and meat floss biscuit. I enjoyed all of them. You can always expect freshly baked egg tarts because it is their best seller and they keep making it non-stop because they keep selling out. So if you're not lucky, expect a short wait for a new batch freshly out of the oven. The place is somewhat hidden in between some alleys.

The restaurant is located next to the famous Kwai Chai Hong. Usually, it is packed with crowds as it has limited dine-in tables and chairs. However, they do have a good system where you can leave your details with the restaurant and they will call you once any seat is available. Therefore, it is suggested to leave your details once you are there, then you can walk around Kwai Chai Hong for photo taking while waiting. The dim sum is a bit on the pricey side but the ingredients are fresh and delicious. The ambience is nice with an authentic old-time Chinese restaurant vibe. The tarts are nice (not the best) and not too expensive. If you are around and feeling some pastries, you can drop by to buy some. It stays crispy even after hours.

Loved the interior decors here, very classical with rustic charms. The only downside is they don't serve coffee or tea, only herbal drinks! What a letdown for coffee lovers. Also, their famous eggtart really worth a try but sadly not ready when their shop opens at 730am. Will return if they serve coffee in future ?

Had lunch at Bunn Choon’s upper floor, you will have to climb a short steep stairway to arrive the dining area. Ground floor is where they are selling their tarts. The interior of the shop are all classical. Back to the olden days. Very recommend to try their tarts!! Their pastries’ crust are flakey, not too sweet. You can expect freshly baked tarts because they are selling like hot cakes. Priced reasonable too. You can have a Insta-worthy photo taking session along the street, Kwai Chai Hong 鬼仔巷 is just beside the restaurant. Dated: 16FEB22

Deliciously flaky pastry with their creamy egg filling, love it lots. Their Egg tart is perfect smooth yellow, dense, luscious and light combined with the light airy flaky pastry that holds the filling very well. Just a nice proportions of filling and pastry. Other than that, I tried out their Charcoal Black Sesame Tart and Pineapple Stick. For the Charcoal Black Sesame Tart, taste-wise is likely similar but the flaky pastry has a nutty taste which creating a unique lovely taste to the filling. I loveeeee pineapple tart so their Pineapple Stick caught my eyes! Golden yellow long-shaped pasfry filled with pineapple jam. The butter used in its crumbly pastry was rich and fragrant, with the right amount of jam filling that is soft, lusciously sweet with a slightly sour taste. Adding this to my favourite egg tart place in KL! Indeed, one of the best place to get old fashion and freshly baked chinese pastry.

Had brunch here during non peak hours. Narrow entrance at ground floor. G floor is selling variety of pastries. You can eat takeaway or dine in. If dine in, you got to order the pastries & bring it up yourself. 1st floor is serving dim sum & dessert. Pastries: Charcoal egg tarts: egg custard is soft & wobbly in your mouth. Pei Dan So: Pastry filled with lotus paste with century egg & ginger slice. Pastry is light, lotus paste not so sweet & still can bite & taste the century egg & ginger slice. Dim Sum: We tried siew mai, 2 different type of har gau, loh mei kei & chinese wine pau. Why 3 stars: Loh mei kei: rice is not evenly cooked. Still can taste some uncooked rice. Not very flavourful. 2. Narrow entrance. 3. Greeted by an unfriendly lady staff (not only to me but other diners too). Others are friendly. 4. Very messy ordering process as 1st floor & ground floor seems like totally different management. You have to self service to order the pastries but can bill in the same payment as the dim sum (for dine in) 5. At first, I thought I was the only one who was confused in getting a table but as I left the place, others diners had the same issue as me. Tips: If you are going there, please tell the cashier the number of pax, he/she will assign a table number for you. Then collect a table number stand b4 you go up to 1st floor. Once you are done paying bill, please return the table number stand to the original place where you get it. Scan barcode for menu to place order. Online menu doesn’t include pastries. Beware of steep & narrow stairs.

A very quaint dim sum place. Back to good old days of freshly made dim sum. Very small place, do have some patience if you want an authentic dim sum experience. Wish I have a bigger appetite or more people with me to try everything on the menu.
