★ ★ ★ ★ ★ know that there are two Teochew Porridge stores along the same stretch of road. the one that is famous is further up, next to a kopitiam, and looks really old school.
not salty, taste of the old world, and settings brings back fond memories of a time long past.
the prices are normal, the porridge servings generous, and the dishes are outstanding and lovingly done by the Teochew uncle and his helpers here.
tip: the benches are really meant for squatting, sitting is uncomfortable due to the height to the floor. there are normal tables and chairs here - use them.
UPDATE: sadly, they have ceased operations in Jan 2021. Memories will have to do.
