A famous street of hawkers slowly moves off street into the courtyards of the houses. Mediocre has nowhere to go but stay here. The much talked about Hokkien Mee (RM6) is served in a spicy but weak prawn bisque, mainly due to the lack of pork bone, as she was busy shredding up stale roast pork for garnishings. The much loved cendol (RM4.50) while maintaining the sweetness of the palm sugar in santan use an artificial coloured green grass jelly, disappointedly not made from sago flour and mung beans. The Char Koay Teow uncle sits forlorn and disinterested, reminiscing of better days of yesteryear, while his feisty daughter fries up a plate with gusto, perhaps now finally taking on the main attraction for RM6. The main attraction in the evening will surely be the gooey fried oyster omelette (RM11) or an eggless Char Koay Kak or fried turnip cake(RM4) for a late supper.

Location is at 888 Always here only for 2 dishes 1) wan tan mee Soupy (not the heavily blacked-sauced type) kinda wantanmee with ‘go cha bee’. Noodle is slightly overdone this round. 2) 888 Hokkien mee Second time eating and does not disappoint. The broth is densed and flavourful, but not salty. Aiyu jelly RM 5 is rather expensive for the little aiyu jelly. Here, customers will have to collect their own food to the table. SOP acceptable. (no one assigned to observed this within the premise, kkgkk ) Mar 2022

Ordered Duck egg CKT, Hokkien mee (prawn noodles), Oh Chien (fried oyster omelette), Bak Kwa Bun, ice kacang and aiyu ice. CKT has got good wok hei but barely any siham. Favourite is definitely the oyster omelette, so good we went back the second time. On the second visit we went close to closing time (9pm) however the ohchien operator was so kind to still serve us. Overall it’s a good choice of place to have dinner and try several different dishes.

Due to the variety of food available here, many locals and visitors to the island throng to this place, as it's a convenient, one stop shop for all the Penang delicacies. Housed along in the corner lot of a row of old heritage building houses, this hawker centre now boasts of almost 25 different stalls selling everything from Satay to Hokkien mee to even Western food as well. Parking is a nightmare here on Presgrave Street, and be prepared to walk a bit in order to get here. You may even need to park as far away as Presgrave Street Ghaut, about 200m away. However, if you're early enough or stay away from peak dining hours, you might just get lucky. The food quality here is generally good. All the dishes I've sampled here are good examples of what Penang has to offer. Oh, do try the pork or mutton satay from the stall along the street that's manned by and old uncle and auntie. It's a delicacy nowadays to be able to get satay with this sort of meat. Also outside is a stall that sells nostalgia, as far as I am concerned. This roti bakkua fare is so rare, and being able to chow down on it always brings a smile to my face. All-in-all, it's a good place to pop by for a meal.

Came here for the 2nd time. The food is amazing ?? Their fried oysters is very tasty and consistent. I also ordered the duck fried kueh tiaw from the other side which taste amazing as well. i ordered the special one. They give very big prawn, and there's like 4 of them. The curry laksa also very tasty. The prawn they use are big and fresh. Would definitely come back here again if i come to Penang

The nearest coffee shop near my hotel. I liked the fried fish head mee Sua followed by the CKT. This coffee shop has a large western stall but I never tried.

Duck egg special CKT was ok - prawns were huge but barely any cockles and thought it was quite overpriced at RM15. There are two oh chian stalls, one next to 888 Hokkien mee and one in the corner hawker shop. Tried the latter and that was also average. Wantan mee at cart on roadside was decent, so was the ais kacang which tasted of sarsaparilla. Overall, an average hawker experience and think there are better options in Penang.

One of the best oyster fried in town, due to the consistency to maintain the freshness of oyster and taste. Western food chicken chop is so far best in my opinion until recently the chicken freshness falling down on last 2 try on last 2 weeks on Sunday, but the taste is still good, doubts if they stocks the chicken due to the prices raised dramatically recently, but before last 2 try still best chicken chop I have experienced, especially the dark pepper chicken. Of course other recommendations on the coffee shop is the famous 888 hokkien mee, taste is incomparable with the peak time, but if the pork leg or roasted pork lover can add on both of them in the hokkien mee which turn it more mouth watering. Then last recommend is wantan mee, but in one condition, if the owner too busy, don't buy it. Taste will be slightly different, if not busy the taste is good.
