Not authentic. Not real sushi. Was served a cup of salted ikura as for appetizer but really don't understand this. It's impossible to only eat this really salty ikura without any rice... It was first time to see sushi restaurant served this kind of menu. Seems this place is only popular because of using luxurious toppings like caviar, truffle and other gorgeous things...

The chefs are super friendly and that made me feel very at home. The ingredients used were premium and their food presentation is gorgeous. The greatest pity is that these premium ingredients are not of the best quality and there was an over emphasis on using these ingredients, instead of harmonising these flavours to elevate the taste of the seafood. It’s suitable for folks who wanna flaunt on social media that they are eating caviar and truffle. But if you are a true foodie, I would advise giving Sushi Ryu a miss. It’s really unfortunate because I really want to like the place because of the friendly local chefs.

I definitely recommend this place for omakase! It was my first time eating omakase style dining and it was amazing! The chefs tell you what they serve, beforehand they'll ask if you have any food preferences and the service was amazing (they like fill your drink before it even finishes) ?

Ok for the price, presentation could be better. Sake selection was limited as no stock. Service could be better too. Taste is good, but I reckon with the price... can definitely find other places that serve better food packaged with the experience. It was full house on day of visit, noisy and kinda took that whole Japanese sushi bar serenity away.

One of my favorite sushi places around town. Other Omakase places are great too but this one feel a little more relaxed (some days I just want to kick back and take it easy). The manager (Turner) is super helpful and I can really count on him to ensure my partner and I have a good time. Pretty interesting story as he first served us at a resort in Desaru and the first impression stuck ever since. Was pleasantly surprised to see him here!

I visited Sushi Ryu for dinner on a Saturday to celebrate my friend’s birthday. The service was impeccable and the food was excellent. We went for the UME set and everything was as fresh as they can be. The tomato was especially spectacular. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Omakase.

Decent meal and I wouldn't say anything fantastic, just average, hence the rating. If you say Omakase "experience", then sadly to say, there isn't any experience to start of with. The service is fast and by the time we sit down, the first course is already served in just a couple of minutes, as if it has been pre-ordered. The food is okay (so-so), nothing special. There are so many chefs/cooks behind the counter, easily 5 of them and everyone is doing something in the food that we are going to eat. There seemed no system. Everyone fingers are on the food. They don't seemed to have 1 head chef that leads the counter because everybody is doing everything. Example one guy slice the fish and then put it one side - for at least a good 10-15 minutes. The freshness of the fish is totally off. And then came a junior cook that prepare the 1st, 2nd and 3rd negiri and OMG, he is not properly trained and he squeezed and squeezed and squeezed the rice and the fish until all the freshness no more. Then came a more senior cook that has better skill to prepare the 4th - 7th negiri and then the junior cook came back again in the 8th negiri. Seriously, this restaurant lacked the Omakase flow and system. Because I am not full, I still ordered a Waghyu Don to just fill my stomach but also not impressive. Overall, me and my partner feels like it is Express Omakase, No System, Many Cooks, Many Fingers on the food and last but not least, Fresh becomes No Fresh Omakase. If you had been around town to hunt for Omakase experience, I don't think I will come back here again.

Popular dinning place so reservations required especially if you are looking for counter seats. +ve: if you are one of those who are calorie conscious then they serve sushi with brown rice. Not so -ve: they should give option of white rice. -ve: one of the counter seat is L shaped which is just bad planning for a fine dining establishment. Food ingredients were fresh but could be explained better when served. Just one of the days when we were given almost raw ginger, it would have been treated better. Tried the Ume Omakase. 3.5 stars.
