★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not bad at all to fill in your Japanese food crave. The free flow of white rice, soup and green salad is much welcomed. Staff is all smiles and quick to serve you. Too bad it doesn't embrace eWallet payment yet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yayoi is a teishoku (meal set) restaurant chain from Japan. It is similar to Ootoya in ??, if you had the luck to visit it.
Food - Ordered chicken katsu curry set (fried chicken cutlet + curry gravy). The food is nice, portion is OK. Compared to Sushi King meal sets, Yayoi fared better for its food presentation and quality that is not reminiscent of average franchise restaurants. If you dine in, you can ask for FOC refill of rice. Waiting time is between 10 - 15 mins.
Menu - Chicken, beef, and fish. Fish (saba/mackerel) meal sets are more expensive than other variants. Sides such as edamame, tamagoyaki (egg roll omelette) are also offered. Bento takeout is available.
Price - Rather expensive. This is not a place you visit for weekday lunch. My bill total is RM30+ - that's for 1 meal set only, including SST.
Recommended for a visit. Despite the pricey meals, it is worth a try.
p/s: Staff is thoughtful. Containers with liquid (takeout) is sealed with extra plastic wrap to prevent spill.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to go for Japanese food lunch. Menu is reasonable for lot 10 restaurants, especially lunch set. No refillable green tea. I wonder why? You have to use ipad menu to order. It isn't that intuitive but not difficult. Menu has been expanded and it shows less specialisation. Fish is one key item on dishes offered. Look for free refillable warm and iced water.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Atmosphere is good. Ordered using an iPad system ?? service was prompt, the food tasted good and portion was huge. The only downside I would say is that the amount of beef in my beef don is so little that it looks pathetic. I did asked the waiter if they are usually so stingy on the amount of meat in the beef don, and I was told that the portion is weighed for every dish. Oh well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Finally a superb japanese cuisine place! The food was awesomely delicious, serving time was quick, and it was really convenient ordering food from their on-table gadget. When they say that Teishoku is the art of having a full-balanced meal, i think it is resembled in every set of their meal. Four thumbs up!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love the salted mackerel that is so juicy, thick fillet and crispy skin! Gyozo is quite good too, I like it with some seasoning on the table. Overall good restaurant to have a slow meal sitting down in the ‘cubicles’ which afford some privacy. Menu is extensive with moderate price.
