Batu Lanchang Foodcourt has lots of local food here with reasonable prices. Don't worry, most food here taste is good. Many locals eat here. Parking can be a hassle at times.

Updated 13sep2021, this stall now offering food in paperbag and coffee in glass bottles. Many food stalls but around 25% operates in the morning. For the morning sections, I always frequent the stalls that sell nasi lemak and special coffee with latte art. Apart from the local coffee with milk which is very good, I never miss its toasted bread with kaya butter and also half boiled eggs. For the nasi lemak, I loves the nyonya nasi lemak with fish, my wife loves malay nasi lemak with ikan bilis while my parents likes its malay nasi lemak with fish. In fact all it is good but preference is very personal even within a family. Fried beehoon and pan mee only so so quality.

The hawker Center is full of nice local food, like fried Kuay Teow, popiah, curry mee, rojak, etc. the environment is quite hot and not that clean. But hawker Center should be like this, isn’t it? The Nasi Kandar has a long queue, no chance to try, but should be nice. And it’s a place not many tourists will come! Score extra points.

This food court has been one of the mainstays around Batu Lanchang, due to its proximity to the market nearby. Place usually is abuzz with activities from lunchtime onwards, but we decided to vist in the morning for some breakfast and avoid the crowd. There's your usual hawker food fanfare as you browse around to decide what to eat. Remember to pay your parking as this place is notorious for the local council to summon your car if you didn't pay.

Another one of Penang's long standing institutions - this food complex that's just next to the Batu Lanchang wet market has been around for ages. It offers so many varieties of local Penang favourites and locals still throng here for food. Parking here is a nightmare as it is shared with the wet market, so obviously getting a spot can be very tricky at all times. However, if you're lucky enough, you'll find one. Also, at the back of the complex, there seems to be a multi storey car park complex that has yet to be opened. This cramped food complex, with numerous stalls, offers a great way for any customer to sample some of the varied food that's dear to Penangites' hearts. However, as a visitor, you might be confused as to why there are two or three different stalls in different locations selling the same kind of food. A pro tip: See which stall has more customers waiting in front for their takeaway orders, that would be an indication that the locals prefer that stall over the others. This is not to say that the other stalls with less people are not good, as generally the food served here is all pretty good in istself. Seating, as mentioned before, is cramped, with other customers walking past very close to you or standing around waiting for their orders, watching you as you eat! If you're around at about 1pm, you'll notice a flurry of activity at the Nonya Kuih stall - reputedly the best in Penang. They sell a selected variety of nonya kuih each day, so by staggering their offerings throughout the week, they can ensure themselves that people will come back! As the location and food is not that instagram-able, this place has not been infested with tourists and visitors unlike the other hawker centers, which is a good thing! Come and eat where the Penangites do.

Taste: 4/5 ⭐ | Service: 4/5 ⭐ | Ambience: 3/5 ⭐ Price: RM26.30 Parking is a bit hard to find here. Once we found parking, we ordered some Pasembur (RM7.50), Nasi Kandar (RM13) and drinks (RM5.80). Pasembur with jellyfish was nice. We actually wanted Nasi Tomato but after a long queue of 30 minutes, we found out they ran out of Nasi Tomato. So, we just got white rice with mixed curries, cabbage, fried chicken and squid. It was yummy. We got sugar cane and cincau for drinks. We recommend to order sugar cane with lemon - very refreshing.
